Have you listened to it yet? If so, how's it sound? This is a favorite Stones album of mine, I have a couple US pressings but would like to try a UK or Japanese (if they sound better of course).
Thanks in advance
Mike

For post-DECCA Stones, always start with US pressings. The earlier pressings are way better than later pressings that often have different catalog numbers.

As for "Black & Blue" - original US pressings are amazing.

COC 79104 w/ a machine-stamped "STERLING" in the deadwax. Look for a tiny "PRC" and a tiny "LH" in the deadwax too.

Mine was purchased by my older sister when it came out.

Original UK pressings are really good, too, just a tad less bass mojo than the US. I would not bother with the Japanese on this one. Lacks the gut-kicking rhythym "punch" of the US and UK pressings.

TODAY I got...

Claude Bolling: Concerto for Classic Guitar and Jazz Piano
(Angel Romero, George Shearing, Ray Brown, Shelly Manne - UK/EMI)
Tributaries (Larry Coryrell, with John Scofield and Jeff Beck : guitar trio!)
War: War Live (Double Album, USA pressing)
Robert Palmer: Clues (Sterling / USA)
Sarah Vaughan: Songs of the Beatles (Atlantic)
Pete Townsend: Empty Glass

Today I also got a bunch of LPs without any jackets. :sigh: I thought they were good finds nonetheless, so I posted about them separately, but for convenience, here is that list:

Pink Floyd DSOTM (not the first solid-triangle pressing, but still a good early Harvest/EMI one).
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd The Final Cut (CBS/Sony)
Ian Hunter Live - "Welcome to the Club" Double LP
Crystal Clear Records Tribute to the Beatles (Supercut Limited Edition Direct to Disc Recording)
Eagles Live (Both discs, first pressing, including all the funny deadwax inscriptions and the endless-applause run-out groove that never runs out!)
Superman II Soundtrack (Laser-cut vinyl with multiple Superman logos!)
Phillips Analog Recording Demonstrations (audiophile demo record)
Antal Dorati / Detroit Symphony Orchestra: Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps (plus 2-3 other classical LPs)
Sheffield Lab's The Sheffield Track Record ("Rock instrumental tracks for audio component testing and evaluation." )

Also passed up a number of good LPs by the likes of Yes, Marianne Faithful, and Micheal Franks, because I already have them.

In addition, (and unrelated to the above), my favorite LP "bird dog" has already told me I can expect another big box of LPs soon, including a bunch of Japanese pressings, mostly rock with some jazz... really looking forward with anticipation to seeing what will be in that lot!

Why not. Went to P.O. did the Thrift stop also. Came out with these:
Couple, maybe home recordings, off the radio of Harry James Orch., Julie London. Slightly warpped Lp. One side flattens out with clamp. cover good for framing. Ramsey Lewis and a couple others.

This came in the post the other day. Not easy to find (one of the last ECM LP releases, IIRC), and a little more than I usually am willing to pay.

Not a big score, but some good stuff. Going for quality over quantity:

3. Johnny Cash - Original Goledn Hits, Vol. 1

All at .50 to 1.00.

Still waiting for B&B to come. Should be here within 3 days or so. When it get's here, it get's here. Can't wait to give it a spin though! Black and Blue is my favorite Stones album, along with and Sticky Fingers and Exile. Must of heard B&B at least 100+ times, I just love it with the reggie style. I am rather excited and anxious getting the Japanese LP. We shall see!! I'll keep ya posted. Who knows??!! We'll find out.

Got a Beatles coming from Jolly Old

Patiently waiting for my fist pressing of "With the Beatles" to show up from England. It's a Parlophone Mono copy. Advertised as near mint, I only hope it is.

Donald Bowman

Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards
Uriah Heep - Very 'eavy, Very 'umble
Yes - The Yes Album
Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives of Henry VIII

Beatles cost a Mint?

Baza,
actually no, most of the bidders on Ebay were asleep, as the auction ended at 3:00 A.M. and I got it for 38 Pounds sterling or $59.00 American
I am still surprised at that
