This site is PRICELESS for those who want to learn electronics! It is the complete US Navy Training Manual manual online. The first link is the main menu, where each course is broken down by module. I am focusing on tubes myself, module 6. It is by far the best reading I have come across.

Free PDF's work just fine.. I picked up the original publications in the Navy while in BEE school. Used them religiously to study for advancment exams for the 10 years as an ET in the Navy.

I know this is an old post though I thought someone might appreciate an update. All the NEETS pdf files are still available at Davidson and if you would like to convert them to a usable format for your Kindle (you can read a pdf file on a Kindle though the font is usually too small), use the k2pdfopt.exe file found here. Just drag your pdf file over the exe file and once the program comes up, hit "return" to accept all options. The result is a much more readable doc with all the diagrams included. It's not perfect, though darn close. I tried using Amazon's free conversion service described here:

"Kindle makes it easy to take your personal documents with you. Each Kindle has a unique and customizable e-mail address you can set on your Manage Your Kindle page. You can send unprotected Microsoft Word, PDF, HTML, TXT, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PRC and MOBI files to your Kindle e-mail address.

To access your personal documents on your Kindle, send attachments to your Kindle's e-mail address ("name"@free.kindle.com). The files will be sent to your Kindle via the Wi-Fi connection and also to the e-mail address associated with your Amazon.com account at no charge.

To have your PDF documents converted to Kindle format so you can take advantage of functionality such as variable font size, annotation, Text-to-Speech, etc., type "Convert" in the subject of the e-mail when you submit your personal document to "name"@free.kindle.com. Although their conversion allows me to change fonts, I discovered quite a few illustrations were missing.

Hey shipmate, same here, Had to do them as a prereq for biomed repair school. Taking a Hospital Corpsman and giving him a multimeter, pretty scary, but has blossomed into a heck of a Navy and civilian career. Those little manuals are essential for nubies.

Great, Will be downloading these. Good to have some reading material like this, nice to get an understanding of how my setup works. Especially good to learn about tubes, I quickly browsed chapter 6 to see if I should download them and in the first couple of minutes there were already the "Ohhhh, OK" noises. Excellent, thanks for the links.

Yeah I took that course in the Navy too. People don't believe me when I tell them that you'd have to get 100% correct on each module test or take the module over again. Thanx
