I recently came into a few old hifi items and would love to know what the approximate value is on each item. Thanks!

Sansui 3300. It is in very good shape and seems to work perfectly. All original packaging is included.

Sansui SP2500 Speakers. Mechanically they seem perfect, and sound great to my ears. Externally there are a couple scratches but nothing major. All original packaging included.

I think he was bequeathed them. Lucky dawg!
Find some place safe for the boxes, set those babys up and take a pic of that:drool:, don't forget to tell us how it sounds!! Ask any Q's you have, oh, and welcome to AK:thmbsp:

Value is based on the market you're selling the pieces in. Check Ebay completed auctions, but be aware selling those items locally probably would fetch lower prices. The original boxes/packaging will add some value, especially if you are shipping.

I'd say that Technics is the best catch of the bunch. It looks like it has a Stanton 681 cartridge on it to boot!

If you are asking their value because you want to sell them to me, then I'll say they are worth about two bucks apiece, but I'll be generous and pay half the shipping cost on top of that. If you are going to sell them to someone else, you can probably get a lot more for them, though: other people appreciate these things.

Actually, I do, too... when I'm not so busy drooling...
:D

In short: what they said. Find a place to store the boxes, set these up properly, and enjoy them. :music: If you really need to know "their value", check completed auctions and other online sellers for an idea. Maybe someone here can chip in with an Orion Bluebook valuation. If you do decide to sell them, remember it is nice to offer them here on AK first, and perhaps even donate some of the proceeds to the site.

Awesome, thanks guys.

I did some looking around and really couldn't find much info on values for the gear.

I need to go get some decent RCA cables and speaker wire for them and get it all set up. I've just used crappy wires I've had sitting around the house to test everything out.

Yes, it was all free. My fiances uncle moved and got all new gear so he just gave this stuff to us. He bought it all when he was in the Navy, judging by the Navy Exchange receipts.

Welcome, Firestarter!

You're starting a fire all right! Great stuff!

I have that model TT and love it.

My brother still has the same speakers from his Navy days and they still kick butt!

I wouldn't sell that stuff just yet considering the condition it's in. I'd play with it for awhile. Just don't scratch it! Then you can put it all back in the boxes and get a good deal.

Your future Uncle-in-Law is a Saint!

Yeah, he's pretty awesome.

I really think I am going to keep the receiver, speakers, and TT [Edited by moderator] He also gave us a Pioneer CD player, but it is just that one from the early 90s that they sold a lot of that has the cartridge that holds the CDs. I didn't post it because there's really nothing special about it.

Very nice, Firestarter, the uncle knew what he wanted, got it and kept it. The system should make a nice sound. :music: Congrats. :thmbsp:

Firestarter, I'm hoping this value you seek is for ins. purposes, so I'll say IMHO:
the receiver, $300
speakers, $200
RtR, $350
TT/cart, $800+
These are conservative for replacement value ins. purposes.

Yeah, he's pretty awesome.

I really think I am going to keep the receiver, speakers, and TT, but I really have no use for the reel to reel.

keep it All -

and the Receipts

worth more ...

once you use the R-T-R you'll want to/wish you had kept it (has the glass heads)

I see a guitar in the background...record it on the reel to reel. See, now you need it! All you need is an excuse, and then you can keep things.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better TT than those technics 1200s. My girlfriend has two (dj) and they give my fancy belt-driven, suspended plinth blah blah blah deck a run for it's money. They still sell them, and I see them go for about $250-$300 on Craigslist, which is a great deal for such a nice solid turntable that is so easy to set up and play.

Sansui speakers don't get a lot of respect, but those look like some of the nicer ones I've heard (Sp-2000). They sit on Craigslist if over $100, but they're better than a lot of new speakers that cost more than that. And they're efficient..so, you can run them with fewer watts.

Don't sell that Sansui receiver! You'll regret it if you do when you try to find a receiver that sounds better.

my two bits,
john

What will you tell your uncle? "Thanks Uncle Joe. I know it was your pride and joy, but I couldn't wait to sell it! Got anything else for me to sell?"

Don't expect any more gear from 'Uncle Joe' :nono:

He gave it to you for more reasons than you think. It would be an insult to not use it. Think!!

Stuwee, I think I need to start selling my unused gear in Tuscon. You might be right, but I wouldn't have guessed 50% of your estimate.

Oh, I don't intend on selling anything [Edited by moderator] I just wondered what these things were worth since I don't know much about old hifi values.

I need to find some RTR tapes and get this thing crankin!!

Okay, you scared me for a minute. At least wait till your part of her family!

I gotta say that those speakers have a lot of visual class. Females may even overlook that they are speakers.
