just bought some to do some comparisons between the Kimber 4VS and canare i typically use, and the mogami.
the mogami feels like nicer wire to the touch than the canare but as the canare is widely used not much is said about the mogami quad and i am wondering why?
cheers,

I bought my Kimber 4VS cable 21 years ago.
Ended up replacing it with Canare Quad last year.
Both the Kimber and Canare are pretty good performers for not much $$$, IMO.
The only Mogami cable I'm using right now is for my old electric guitar, which BTW, replaced a Canare guitar cable.
Funny.....I didn't even know Mogami made a quad cable?

The first runs of Spectron Remote Sense cords were built using Mogami...I understand that they have moved on to something they find is better sounding, but the setups I heard with it sounded fine...

It's just not as easy to find as the Canare....

I agree on Mogami's availability via the typical distribution channels. I note that Guitar Center prices their prebuilt mic and guitar cables on the high side compared to their own brand names.

I've had the pleasure of working with Mogami signal level cable when I was working at Universal Audio, the recording gear manufacturer. All of their internal wiring is all-Mogami. They make up all their own harnesses with it.

Now that I'm no longer there, I miss picking up the scraps. This past week, I looked around the Internet trying to find a seller who would sell less than a complete roll of the cable. I was looking for internal wiring stuff and not speaker cable. Outside of Michael Percy, there are few places that even mention they have it.

For speaker cable, though, I'm still ok with the Home Depot 14 gauge extension cord.

Cheers,

David

Cool! Thanks. Those guys should let the web-bots into their site.

Cheers,

True,
AND they should be an AK sponsor to further elaborate.

I have cut and terminated a couple of lengths of cable and hope to try the mogami star quad out this afternoon.
it is easier to work with than canare.

Markertek has very good prices but the shipping is a bit higher than some other places.

However, if one is ordering more than one-zie, two-zie, you'll probably save overall at Markertek.

Short term impressions..

The Mogami is a Winner!!:thmbsp::thmbsp:
All around superior to the canare 4s11 quad.:headscrat

Flexibility and Bass extension are better on the mogami 2921 than the Kimber 4vs.
Only one thing I like better about the 4vs over this mogami 2910 is the look; and nobody sees my cables anyway.

more impressions to follow as I get time, But I like Mogami star quad:thmbsp:

I've never had any trouble with markertek's shipping costs yet. Now, PE is another story....
cheers
