I work at an entertainment company, so pretty much anyone with an office (barring those in Finance) has some sort of stereo or home theater set up. I got upgraded to an office a couple years ago, and the first thing I did was say no thanks to an HT system (they sound like crap in every coworker's office as far as I can tell) and instead cobbled together a two-channel system using castoffs floating around the office, plus a few of low-end pieces from Radio Shack. Then, a year later, I got into vintage stuff, and started swapping stuff in and out.
Here's what I've got right now, all silver:
TV: 22" Sony - inherited from a former coworker
Receiver: Yamaha CR-640 (alternate this with a Pioneer SA-6800) - both acquired for free from coworkers' home systems
DVD/CD player: an LG unit - bought at Radio Shack
TT: Technics SL-BD22D - my old unit that I bought in the mid-'90s
Cassette: Sony unit that a coworker gave me for free
VHS: Sony unit that I inherited from a former coworker
Speakers: Boston Acoustics A60s that I got at Goodwill. I also have TWO pairs of BA A70s awaiting refoams. These are lined up against my wall, and get comments from time to time. :scratch2:
While I'm at it, I should also mention that I have one acoustic guitar, two electric guitars, and two guitar amps in my office. And yes, I do manage to get plenty of work done!
