The subject of providing remote control capability for vintage gear has been discussed on this site several times, and I usually recommend the Acustic Research SRC unit.

I was visiting a friend last week that is quite a collector of audio gear himself. He asked me to come with him up to his "attic" (actually an unfinished upstairs area). The place is full of vinyl LPS, cassettes, RTR tapes and a varied assortment of vintage gear, mostly Pioneer.

He picked up and handed me an item that was labeled Pioneer RC-760. It appeared to be a remotely controlled input selector and volume control. I soon found the companion remote keypad labeled Remote Control Unit CU-760. He said that it had been given to him some time ago and he had never checked it out. He told me to take it with me.

I got it home and cleaned the dust off of it and found that this unit is a remotely-controlled input selector with volume control and mute function.

It is designed to plug into the tape monitor input/output jacks on a preamplifier, integrated amplifier or receiver. It duplicates the tape input/output function with jacks on the unit as well as providing inputs for TV, FM/AM, CD, TAPE and SOURCE. Additionally, it has input/output jacks for an "adapter" (processor) loop.

It allows you control the volume and provides for muting as well. I have checked it out and it works very well. It is an excellent way to provide 3 additional inputs without losing the TAPE function and allows for the use of a processor loop. The "mute" button is nice in that it allows for instant muting if required.

The keypad also has buttons for turning the power off and on to a TV and for selecting TV channels as well as what appears to be selecting AM/FM Stations.

A few more items I picked up in his "attic".

I also picked up these 2 pre-recorder RTR tapes while visiting my friend and his "attic".

Also picked up this Realistic Metal 7" reel, still NIB. Notice the adapter plate that might be required when using a metal reel, which is thinner than a plastic reel.
