I decided that my Klipsch KSW-10 sub wasn't doing me any good in my apartment where my bookshelf speaker have plenty of bass so I brought it into work. Ended up running the speaker outputs through the passive crossover on the sub, seems to work fine. And now that the Celestion bookshelves don't need to go low, they can really sing.
Also got my Nakamichi CD Player 4 in. So now, the setup is: Nakamichi CD Player 4 Computer sound card Harman Kardon HK430 receiver Klipsch KSW-10 sub Celestion 5 speakers Thinking if I add a decent DAC, it'll be complete for the time being. |

Here is a shot of my desk at work a short while ago.
The Marantz 1060 in the center fed two Yamaha NS-690II. Now I am using a Pioneer SA-9100 with two Dynaco A-25. ![]() |

back to vintage - partly!
I popped my new Marantz 2220B (thanks zr1gary!) into the office system today, replacing the Sony ES TA-N110 amp that I've been using. Nice to have balance & tone controls again, not to mention AM/FM for source instead of being limited to Sirius & PC sound.
Still using the new Sony DVD/CD player which looks a little out of place on the Marantz, but works great. John |

I could but I don't. Too many distractions/interruptions make it more of a PITA than anything.

Heres what I run at my workplace
Funny thing is that I fix audio gear for a living so the setup also gets used as test bed for checking the gear that I'm working on or testing at the time. BTW I tided the cables/scope probes away for the photo, can't have it looking to messy! The line up: Trio KL-5060 Speakers (Recent score from local recycling dump shop) Sansui AU-9900 Sony CDP-991 Pioneer CTW208R All I need now is a turntable and tuner I guess, but the PC supplies internet radio which is playing most of the time for background music. So I get to play with vintage gear at work and at home ![]() G.

I use a setup consisting of an early 80s Hitachi tuner that was collecting dust in the cellar, a homebrew amp using 1930s farm radio tubes and some cheap computer speakers. The amp's good for a whopping 1/2 watt per channel, but it's enough for the way I use it. My office is in Boston, and with a plain folded dipole I can get WHRB, Harvard's radio station nicely.
The picture shows the setup, including one of the speakers. |
