Oh yeah, I always forget about those ESP's. Well, mostly I just want to know what you think about the 5002 compared to any amp(s) you're familiar with...and the 1000's are probably more revealing than the 690's. You're the only one on AK besides me, Mark B, and a few visitors who've had a chance to sit down with the 5002, and I'd appreciate a third party's honest opinion on it.

interesting
sorry I'm just interested in G/H-class type
hmmm parallel drivers into bases of outputs. does this have to be excited to the point to trigger secondary rails to set bias and offset. if so must be a pita. heard that some early G/H class had issues with the primary/secondary cross over points. no where near that, but I have a Yamaha A-760, which is G-class. Lot of power for small package, sounds great. It was said that it and its bigger brother pissed off Carver. Also have a set of Apogee complete amp modules. Just cant afford transformer and protection circuitry right now, but I would love to put them to use. Their arrangement for outputs are 1-4-1-4 , 1 TO220 to drive low bases, 4 low rail, 1 TO3p to drive high bases and 4 high rail 2SA1292/2SC3263 sets, about 5lbs of tunnel airflow heat sinks each. Final ops check before sending the amp out the door.
Rails dead on at 120vdc Bias at 6mv Output power before clipping a staggering 662.8 watts @ 1.0 Khz @ 8 Ω (Recalibrated signal generator with a freq counter for 1 Khz.) DSOTM never Sounded so good on the ole NS-1000's.. http://audiokarma.org/forums/showpos...6&postcount=22

Heats up the load pack quite well.Amplifiers heatsinks start getting real warm to the touch after 30 seconds

during actual playback through my QLS1's (81db efficiency and a tough load to boot), my first 5002M's heatsinks would get fairly warm at decent volumes on material with pretty good bass. i think i had the bias set toward the top of the acceptable range. on this amp with freshly remounted trannys, heat should be dissipated more efficiently, but i don't know what that will do to the heatsink temperature. IIRC, the amp burns about 200W idling, even though it stays pretty cool.

avionic, are you also monitoring the input on that scope or is that both channels? i see two nearly overlapping signals. i'm wondering because i need to know if the amp is inverting or not. if need be, i can find out by trial and error.

Non-Inverting
First photo- Both input and output signals
second photo- freq.of input ( 1 Khz ) 3rd & 4th photo -- glamour shots...

Minor setback
Seems channel B has developed a slight very low level hiss..Isolated problem to the output module..Noisy transistor this is going to be fun. NOT.. Its one or more of these..

On a side note: My second set of loads should ship monday from Mouser.. http://www.mouser.com/Search/Product...84-NHS300-4.0F That will give me a 4 ohm 1200 watt load capacity..Then we will see what this baby will do..
