Many moons ago I traded in my Pioneer CT-F900 cassette deck against what turned out to be a POS Kyocera deck. Stupidest bone-headed move I ever made and I regret it to this day.

The only piece of audio gear I regret getting rid of was my father's old Bogen Am/FM tuner that my 1st (practice, right?) wife sold on me at a yard sale. I still have some RTR recordings made from it at least. My biggest regret was selling my 1966 Mustang GTR. I had nowhere to store and needed some serious money to pay fr my grandmother's funeral. Good cause, but what it would be worth now, OMG!

A Dynaco ST-35 amplifier I bought for $25 back in college. I had no idea what I had when I threw it away after I got my Pioneer SX-780, which I regretted selling as well.

I regret selling my California Audio Labs Alpha DA converter. Two years after selling it I bought another one but it never sounded the same.

It was only in my early days (while I was working my way up from Panasonic to Pioneer components) that I have sold any gear. As a result, there was only one item (or actually pair of items) that I ever regretted selling.
It was my pair of Royal 6 (house brand) speakers that I bought from the stereo store that I later worked at. That particular version was made by E-V and they were 12-inch 3-ways with real wooden veneer, not vinyl (the later versions were made by CTS, still pretty good, but no E-Vs). They sounded very good, but I made the mistake of selling them when I bought a pair of Sansui speakers. The Sansui units looked like a million dollars, but didn't sound as good as the Royals. No offense to the Sansui faithful, but I had to suffer with them until I bought my L-100s. Looking back in the big scheme of things, not a big deal. But at the time, a serious error!

Amen. I've got a couple pair of "economical" Clements and they're terrific speakers.
As for my regret, I wish that I hadn't sold my Yamaha MX-630 HCA amplifier. It wasn't a world-beater but a pretty nice piece just the same. I sold it to buy my second pair of Clements 108's. I sold my first pair of 108's recently to finance the purchase of the centre and surround speakers to complete my Energy Connoisseur C Series setup. Good thing that there's equity in our stuff, huh? It keeps the upgrade cycle going.

Mint Infinity Kappa 7's...practically gave them away. Another was a Pioneer SX-780 that for some reason just sounded extraordinarily good for what it was.

A factory assembled Dynaco ST-70. Had the extra screw on each side & the chrome cover over the circuit board. I traded it for an Apt Holman preamp back in the days when ST-70's were a dime a dozen. Although I still have 3 ST-70's it was the nicest one I've had. I still own the Apt Holman & it still works great so not a total loss.

If nothing else maybe this thread will be a wake up call on what was and what could be.Even with the women who are way more important than stereo gear in my eyes.

For the longest time it was my marantz 2250b which was my first brand new reciever back in the day. Recently I acquired a 2252 and I no longer miss the original. There are many many more pieces that I regret not acquiring rather than the units that I've sent down the road.
