Friday Night - Moody Blues/Pink Floyd

Really digging on some Moody Blues "In Search Of The Lost chord" tonight. I remember first hearing this album in 1974 ( I was 14), you know it still hasn't lost it's magic. It's not exactly audiophile (in terms of imaging, etc. Very point-source sometimes; wouldn't mind hearing it in mono), but damn what great songwriting and sort of psychedelic. Which led me on to Pink Floyd (with Syd Barrett); "A Saucerful of Secrets" and "A Piper At The Gates Of Dawn". Man, what were these Guys thinking?. What amazing, innovative stuff (for it's time) . "Matilda Mother", what is that?. Very cool!.

Anyway, thought I'd share.

Have a good night Guys!.

Cheers

Jeff

I hear ya,I gave away the moody blues album in high school, just couldn't get into it only to find some time later it was to become my favorite Moody Blues album. As far as A saucer Full of Secrets I loved that album,it's probabaly my favorite Syd influenced Floyd recording.

Damn it!

I've been trying to find the 1st UK mono pressing of The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and also a copy of A Saucerful of Secrets. I guess I'm gonna have to settle for the 1st US mono pressing for now.

Two of my favourite groups. I really got into the Moody Blues in the early 70s when I was just out of high school. Didn't care for Pink Floyd back then but borrowed the PULSE concert DVD from the library this spring and now am buying Pink Floyd albums. Maybe I was too much into Top 40 hits in my youth.
Sorry, A Saucerful of Secrets is one of my least favourite Pink Floyd albums, but to each his own. I like 90% of what they did, just don't like much on that one.
