Aside from maybe the tweeters, I junked all the electronics in my grandpa's 1961 Westinghouse stereo console when I got it. At the time I had no interest in tubes and planned on installing a SS system.

After 8 years I still have the console (empty) and have parts for a hybrid setup; SS tuner, ST70 tube amp for Indignia speakers, and maybe a SS amp for a sub. Mostly I regret letting it sit unused all this time, but if I had to pick I'd say the tuner was the piece to keep. Probably would've upgraded stuff but kept it tubed eventually, though resto-modding it to a hybrid an keeping the cabinet nearly stock is fun too.
