This is my third SX-D5000. I realize some of you suffer the same affliction. I really couldn't pass this one up. Appears to be in outstanding cosmetic and operational condition. It also includes the original box, packaging, operating manual and schematic. I was the only bidder ($160 for the unit). Shipping is $80 (i'm sure that scared some potential buyers off, which I was counting on), $240 for the deal. The photo is of the unit from the auction. Again, more photos to follow when she gets here. Thank god for overtime.

The SX-DXXXX series is very unappreicated. I love my SX-D7000 and think the fast amp section is stellar for vintage gear. IMHO, the last of the classic Pioneer receivers.

I can't seem to get it out of my rotation ( SX d 7000) It performs great with vintage gear:yes: What is " fast amp section:scratch2:"

They RATE the d7000 amplifier's frequency response as 3Hz to 450,000 hz +/- 3dB. :yikes:

amp is no more than 0.005% distortion at 120 watts , both channels driven into 8 ohms.

Thanks mark for that bit of information:thmbsp: I had no idea what the frequency response of the SX D7000 was rated @ Impressive indeed along with the distortion number. Does the SX D5000 hold up to those numbers as well?:scratch2:

LOL someones building WTC II here. Man those Pioneers look good!

these silver blue line units has to me so much feel of the 80´s thats why I propably love em so much. To me todays design is so cheap in many ways

download them from kallhovde.com/pioneer/ :D , the spec sheet is usually the first page or three. All kinds of interesting numbers....

There just isn't any hope for you, is there? :D

An SX-D5000 went on that auction site for $53+shipping yesterday. And it looked to be in great shape. What the heck? That's almost criminal. I hope someone here was the beneficiary of that deal.

More importantly for those of us who love these units, the word has apparently not gotten out yet. Yet....

I agree. The two I already have I was lucky enough to get for under $100 shipped. The SX D-5000s sound as good as my SX-D7000, and at 80 wpc they are no slouch.

I just snagged a SX D5000 today for the BIN price of $135 plus shipping:yes:
It appears in excellent condition and described as in great working order with low usage from a seller with 100 percent feedback:yes:

Pictures to follow:thmbsp: It will complement my SX D7000 & complete this rare series of receivers.

This is the last Pioneer receiver I'll end up owning when all is said and done. Likewise, I bought my absolutely mint SX-D5000 several years ago and it was under $100 shipped. I couldn't believe how big and heavy my SX-D5000 is. I had two of the SX-D7000s and sold them years ago, but kept the D5000. The reason was, that the D7000s were bringing in top dollar a couple of years ago, and yet performance-wise, there was hardly any drop-off from going down to the D5000, so I cashed in on the 7000s, and kept the inexpensive 5000 for my office system.

I'll keep the twins together for that reason:yes: I hate to be in the position of wanting the SX D7000/5000 after selling one & be priced out of the market, Especially ones in good cosmetic condition.

They do look different then most of the seventies/eighties gear, a unique bird indeed.

I agree the looks are unique, probably why I love them so much (along with my Communication Series gear). My brother was in town this past weekend for a visit, and didn't realize these SX-Ds are pushing 30 years old. I'm still amazed at how good these receivers look, sound and perform.

She finally got here safe and sound. Looks and sounds wonderful (what sounds better than a protection relay click?) I have this SX-D5000 giving my SX-D7000 a break. As Retro said, I can't tell any difference in sound or performance. Right now it appears the SX-D5000s are a great bargain, and in my opinion, one tough and good looking receiver.
