All Radio Shack had was 5 ohm .5 watt pots.... I got them just in case. Will they work?

Nope 1/2 watt is not enough you need to have 5 watt

Excellent... thanks. Should I be concerned that the previous owner installed 25ohm pots on the midrange? Any possible damage, etc.?

No the 25k Ohm pots would just cause the output to be attenuated.
After replacing them with the 5 Ohms you should have more mid range.

Proper pots are on the way.... thanks. I friggin' hate pots.... especially on speakers. As well I purchased an extra set of RSII cross overs on the big auction site. I see some new caps in my future.
