VIntage Equipment Moving Sale in Twin Cities Minnesota

Hello AudioKarma Community:

I live in Minnesota and used to visit this website fairly regularly up to a couple of years ago in order to read about vintage equipment and understand more about my passion of old stereo equipment. In the last couple of years the economy caught up with me and I am in the process of moving (end of November) and downsizing considerably. In the years up to this time, I have accumulated many decent vintage audio pieces and find I cannot bring them with me. I do not need really need to make large amounts of money from the sale of the equipment, but really do not want to throw away the equipment (my wife's idea) or even give it to Goodwill. I am also leery of and too busy to really put the equipment up on Craigslist or Ebay in the short time that I have before moving. I am also not really interested in shipping.

What I would like to do is offer it to Minnesota AK members at greatly reduced prices. Actually, I am not even sure of what to charge, but am willing to provide the opportunity to Minnesota (or surrounding areas) members to look at the equipment or list of equipment and make reasonable offers. In fact, a reasonable offer to me would even be in some cases to pick the equipment up and take it off my hands. Anyway, I am not trying to give you a sales pitch, because really I just want people to take these things and perhaps pay what they feel is a fair price ( I am sure I would take 1/4 to 1/2 what the things are selling for on Ebay or maybe even less to a good home?) Just as a starting point for discussions, I will suggest $30-50/piece but there is room to negotiate in all cases except as marked below.

Thanks, Don (foxford1) Chanhassen, Minnesota

If I lived near you, I'd be all over that STA 850. My dad has one that has blown protection transistors and we can't figure out why it keeps popping them. Very nice looking receiver.

Looks like a decent list of stuff man, I hope you get what you want for most of the stuff. Hopefully life turns around in the near future for you.

Maybe some Minnesota AK'ers can pony express or help with shipping to other Ak'ers? Might help to spread the wealth and help a fella out.

Good luck with the sale and move. Going to warmer parts?

I'm all for that, if someone in MN is willing to, I'd pay them for their time.

Twin Cities Moving Sale Update

Hello again and thanks for the comments. In answer to one of the questions, I, in fact do not have any small JBL speakers. Sorry, I just have so many I assumed that there was at least one set of JBL. In the next few days as I sort through my stuff I will list exactly what speakers I have, but most are Infinity or Klipsch.

Also, the end result of all this economic turmoil (and the loss of my main job) has been extremely positive. I now have a full time job doing what I love (teaching college chemistry and physics) and have been able to sell my house and will move to a smaller house in the Twin Cities which will be easier to maintain. The whole family is behind the move (the kids are closer to thier friends and staying in the same school) and we will be completely out of debt (hooray!!!).

So I still need good homes for all the equipment, and would be even willing to give some away to a good home so please consider a visit to my house if you are at all interested.

As far as shipping, it might be possible, but someone would have to pay for the shipping or get someone to pick it up and transport it somehow.

Thanks for your help, Don

Good for you, very nice to hear a positive life story, sounds like down sizing and letting some gear go elsewhere is also a positive move on your part. As the saying goes " it's a beautiful thing!"

whoa, someone please buy that Sanyo 2900K. WELL worth the price of admission based on what the OP's suggested. for the money, power, and build quality, probably one of the best buys out there!

Don is a gentleman, a scholar, and a heck of a nice guy.

I got to visit with Don a spell this evening and ended up carting away a truckload of treasure including a pretty swell Sanyo JCX 2900.

Don if you are out there: Thanks. I wiped it off and plugged it in and it works just great. It's really a nice piece and I will snuggle with it after my wife throws me out of the house for bringing back another stack of orphaned audio equipment.

If you need help with the move give me a call or PM me.

Steve

Don this is the second time I have started to write this post. First one I deleted after having second thoughts.

But some thing is driving me to ask you about that Pioneer PL-6a TT. I'm putting together a mid 1960's Tube system and that table would look just about perfect with my Scott 233 amp and Scott 312 tuner.

BUT I'm in Oregon and shipping a TT properly is a Huge PIA.

But I'm gonna ask anyway. What are the chances I could work something out to end up with that table here (provided it's a runner) ?
