Here are nudies of the SAE T-102 I have on my bench. Just DeoxIT it. I was having problems jiggling the cables on the RCA jacks to get both channels to play. A matchbook usually fixed it. Other than that, sounded pretty good and picked up fair.
I replaced it with a Technics ST 9038. This SAE will now be my back up for that. May have to replace the rca jacks if the juice doesn't work.
Got here a day sooner than I thought. Here is my SAE TWO T-14. I have it on the rooftop dipole and seems to be pulling them in nicely. Just getting used to the front panel the scan function is confusing and I have no idea what the display auto switch does yet. I need to tune up 91.5 to 91.55 to lose the multipath interference on some stations.
Sounds really good so far. The Narrow IF and Blend functions work really well. The scan is just strange. So strange I cannot explain it only a manual will help I think. The display is nice but what kind of "S" reading is that guys? Not complaining at all! The soundstage is very wide and bass is right where I like it. The highs are very refined and mellow to these ears.
There's a nude in here for you guys too.
Can you spot the cap that needs replacement? I sure did.
Listening some more this evening to Public Radio and this tuner is a really nice performer. The sound is just beautiful. The Sansui 717 is warmer and the Sony HD has better headroom in comparison. Still the SAE was definitely a contender in my listening tests. The soundstage is larger than the Sansui but the SONY is on right now and is just amazing it's the dynamic range that really makes a difference. I really like running these comparisons.
