European Models

Hi guys.

Man, those black faceplate receivers are simply gorgeous! Does anyone have suggestions on where I can find one of these? All I could think of were the ebays and craigslists from across the pond. I have a 2270 now that needs a power switch (I just unplug it). Maybe I could just do a faceplate swap if Marantz had them for 2270s?

The only black faced Marantz receivers I've seen are the 2238B and 2285B. I seem to recall a 2330B. There was no black face 2270, sorry.

Black 2265B. I don't like it much, but hey, that's just me. If I stumbled onto a deal on one, it would come home with me.

Hmmm, I stand corrected. Seems that there's a 2252B black face as well. There's a trend here, it's the B series with the raised section around the dial glass that got the black face in Europe. Good catch, Gun Doc! :thmbsp: I really like the black face, the knobs and dial face stand in such striking contrast.

Actually I saw a blackface 2238 on sale, not 2238b. Can't afford it. :(

I have a black 2216.look nice and sounds nice!

I've never heard of a blackfaced 2238B, by the way. Are you guys sure it isn't a 2238?

I remember this one sold for big bucks on ebay about a year ago. I think it went for about $800.

I remember that one, and had seen pics of it somewhere before, but can't remember where. Makes me wonder if there were 2275's or 2325's also, given the time frame, and the way they promoted those threee models together (there is a very good and detailed brochure that covers those three models only, but makes no mention of black versions.)
