Denon TU-800, very nice!

Just snagged a Denon TU-800 and am so far very impressed. On the auto-scan mode, it switches between wide/narrow/super narrow and is picking up a number of stations that I had no idea even existed in my area. Wow. My favorite jazz station which sounded pretty darn good on my Yamaha TX-550 is sounding that much better.

The TU-800 is one of my favorite tuners. When aligned properly, and with hand matched narrow filters, it has incredible reception capability. And sounds great.

Thanks for the links, stupid me, I realized that the manuals were on the fmtunerinfo site about 15 mins after I made the post. Funny thing is, I used that site for info on this model and never even noticed the links to the docs.

Anyway, the thing that I am very impressed with on this tuner is the complete and utter lack of any background static or hiss. There is a local station that plays commercial free jazz from 6 - 10 every night and in between the songs when there is sometimes a couple second gap of silence, I would swear that my amp was turned off. Maybe this is true of all good tuners, but I certainly did not notice the complete lack of background static with my last unit. I am very happy with it.

I have one of those, bought it mint with box a couple years ago. My only complaint is how bright the display is. I like to listen to the radio while I fall asleep, and that tuner lights up the room!
Great tuner with really useful features.
