Today's INDIE Playlist

current 93 - black ships ate the sky

Wow, there's a name I haven't heard in a long time, since the early '90s hanging out with my uber-goth friend friends from DC, smoking cloves and hitting on pale girls in black lace stockings and corsets. I always liked them (Current 93 and pale girls).

anybody buy the new broadcast w/ the focus group lp?

I bought the LP and it's very trippy and dreamlike and has no traditional boundaries with regard to pace - it's like a soundtrack to a hallucinogenic trip. Really cool sounds, some of which are traditional like a dog whining or something, but altered almost beyond recognition of their origin. I'm still absorbing however, so this is my initial impression.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane over the Sea

Heck yeah. Gonna dig this one out today. The vinyl sounds spectacular.

Currently listening to Grandaddy, "Sumday". I'm digging through an old CD case/book, listening to things I haven't heard in years. I really forgot how much I like this album.

Fugazi - 13 Songs

Just picked this up last night. I didn't realize the older Fugazi albums had been remastered like 5 years ago. I remember this album being kind of a muddy mess. Now it's a little too bright. Oh well.

i hadn't heard of the remaster, either.

Levi Fuller - Collosal

I'm going to go ahead and plug this a bit. This is a friend's album. He took a risk and decided to release it on vinyl.

If you like stuff like Songs For a Blue Guitar-era Red House Painters, Calexico, etc... I think you will dig it. The pressing is pretty damn good too. I mean you can download it too, but who wants to do that?
