Bought a KA-7002 at a yard sale. Very good condition both cosmetically and operationally. I searched the web, including Ebay and no info on value. Any Idea / opinions of this unit? The manual was printed in Japan in March of 1971.
thx

Those are nice units. I expect the value at auction would be about $100. On any given day it will be more or less. I assume that you have the lumber and that it too is in good condition. Have you listened to it? What do you think?

I have listened to it through a Kenwood KT-1000 FM tuner I found in a dumpster dive. Its in need serious need of alignment, so I didn't expect too much, and did not get much quality sound. I powered the amp over a Variac, and all played well. LOTS of power. All features seemed to work fine. I need to disconnect my good tuner and try it. I will try to remember to let you know how it sounds. did not get any lumber with it....too bad. Only the metal case.
Thanks for the info, and opinion.

TC,
Its Friday night here on the east coast, and I have the Kenwood fired up :music:. Work sucked :thumbsdn:, so I left early thinking about this audio demo. I went through some of my "test" music, comparing the Kenwood to my other setup.
Here are the setups:
CD player: Parasound CDC 1500.
Speakers: KEF Reference Model Two.
Music: Jazz, Grant Green. Pop, Whitney Houston Rock, Pink Floyd Dark Side (of course). Rock: Police Syncronicity.
Amp 1: Eico HF-32 Tube amps. 32 WPC. Mono Blocs
Amp 2: Kenwood KA-7002 68WPC (into 4 Ohms)

After listening to all this (twice :music:), the conclusion both the wife and I have is the Kenwood is a very fine solid state amp. By far... it beats my Carver amp!! I will probably dump that one sooner or later. Yes: I must confess, I am still partial to the tubes of the Eico amps. But I will say this: The Kenwood is the best sounding SS amp I have heard in my system. It is definitely a keeper. It is closer to the sound I like than any other SS I have heard. I have been planing on building a system for the bedroom, and this will be in it for sure..... Now what speakers????
Thanks for you insight.
BYW: Doesn't matter the value, I'm keeping it!

Tom,

Thanks for the feedback on your listening impressions. The KA-7002 was Kenwood's top of the line integrated amplifier of its time. IMHO the KA-7002 was one of the nicest looking integrated amplifiers ever made. The stamped front panel and nicely machined knobs speak to a level of quality that is all but unobtainable in audio equipment manufactured today at any price.

Good listening :music:

This was my first amp I bought 'back in the day' still have one . - EVERY Friday and Saturday night had that little bad boy cranking out 4 Large Advents at about 8 on a scale of 10. Of course now days I don't play it as loud - I doubt you can find a better amp for $100 - I think it is a real sleeper.
