Good Afternoon,
I have a Kenwood Kr-6600 that works great with one exception, the balance is out of whack. When you turn it to the right, the right channel does not work. When you start going back to 0 balance, the left channel comes in almost right away from 10 back to 0. The left channel is very powerful, but the right is weak. Any suggestions?

You might want to clean the controls with Deoxit.

Look in the top of the General Audio forum and you'll see a guide to using Deoxit to clean the controls of your gear.

I cleaned all pots and switches with Deoxit as described. The Volume and Balance is still not right. It has some static from 0-1 on the volume, with most of the sound going to the left channel. Does anyone know where I can get the volume and balance pots (other than oaktree) ? Will they interchange with other recievers? Any other suggestions on what could be wrong?

Thanks

This could be several things. Start with the basics. Deoxit all the pots and the pushbutton switches. Make sure to work those switches alot after spraying. see if this brings the channel back.

I had similar situation with my 6050 and the trouble was in (too)many bad solder points on the preamp pcb (the one holding pots and switches)...

The tech I took it to re-soldered the whole pcb and now all the switches work properly (left channel was louder than right, balance pot not linear, wide/narrow switch was not working despite repeated cleaning).

Also, check the tape monitor switch, I had a problem with one Marantz caused by dirty (cleaned, but not enough) tape monitor switch, one channel would just disappear or became quieter, and after I push the switch a few times it came to normal operation. Needed to re-clean it and works like charm :thmbsp:

If the switches have been thoroughly ceaned (No static) i would suggest removing the (3) 4-pin connectors to the amp board and clean the pins and sockets. reconnect and see if that helps. The KR7600 i have had major corrosion on one of these connectors. There is a SM on the AK site for the 7600/6600

Ditto what Pamook said about the tape monitor and tape 1 or 2 buttons. I just bought a KR-7200 and it was doing the same thing. I cleaned the hell out of everything but neglected cleaning the tape buttons and thats where my problem was.

You might also try the back where the tape adapter option is. usually two metal u shaped peaces in it to bypass directly to the preamp. and as Maddart said Check that board on the amp.. them pins can an do become nasty.

Also check any fuse holders. I had a Marantz with a bad channel and finally discovered that a fuse holder was tweaked so the fuse was loose. I pinched it tight and my amp was reborn.
