Toasted Amp Outputs

One of the guys at the office asked me if I could look at his dead Marshall amp. The main fuse was blown and a quick hook up with a light bulb in the power input showed a dead short. Disconnected the outputs and no more short.

I found the transistors at Mouser but they have 15 pins and it looks like they would be a bitch to desolder and replace.

Has anyone had success with this or should I just get new boards?

yea replacing that component should be easy!
bending the new leads to match and look good might take alittle more effort.. but thats just if you want them to look good. :D

Say Murray...even ol' shakey-hands here did some REAL tight soldering on my Seduction and C4S add-on board. Just use a head-magnifier and a fine tip soldering "pencil".

Lol. It just occurred to me that I could clip the pins off the transistor and pull them out one at a time. Sort of, anyway.

Ordered the new outputs and I'll start pulling the old ones apart. Should be fun. I think. I've got a pointed tip for the iron - just need to find it. :sigh:

A solder sucker would help a lot with that. Clean off one at a time and presto, out it comes.
Got one. The pins have solder on both sides of the pcb so that's a lot of sucking. I'm actually just whining a little - I'll get it figured out and hopefully don't break anything, lol.
