Hello everyone. I'm a sixty year-old guy who has had a love of music, instruments and stereo equipment for well 50 years - ever since my fifth grade teacher put me in charge of the A/V equipment used in her classroom. I've witnessed the decline of AM radio, the ascent of FM, and the ever-increasing popularity of satellite. I watched vinyl go from 33s and 45s to collectors' items, and tapes go from reel-to-reel to 8-track to cassette only to be replaced by CDs, MP3s and iTunes. Over the years, I've bought, sold, gave away, repaired and...destroyed many pieces of equipment that I wish I had today. I currently have three complete sound systems - albeit old ones - as well as five guitars, a violin, a banjo, a keyboard and a piano. Due to health problems, I cannot play the instruments any more, but I can play the hell out of my stereos, which are all in need of repair. I can still work on them, and I'm hoping to receive advice as well as sources for parts, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc. to aid me in my quest to restore these dinosaurs. Over time I hope to chat with many of you and, possibly, become a resource to any who have equipment similar to mine. Hope to hear from you soon. Please call me Whitey (after my hair color - what's left of it).

Hey, Whitey...welcome!! Post in Vintage Solid State regarding any amp/receiver problems...speakers for speakers, etc. If you own a particular brand of gear (IE Pioneer) there may well be a separate forum just for that. Enjoy!!!!
