Good a 'deal' (3 for the price of 1 and free shipping) on Pangea AC-14 power cords and like them except for one problem. They are so heavy that they tend to 'settle' in the IEC sockets from their own weight and will lose the connection. Am wondering if anyone else has suffered this problem with after-market AC power cords and how you solved same. Thanks.

Sounds like maybe lopping the IEC end off and installing a better fitting one would solve your problem. Can't say I have ever had this problem but I understand what you are talking about.

If you think that's bad, try one of their AC-9 power cords! Even with a fancy-pants Oyaide power outlet it still sags. I've thought of turning the outlet around so the hole for the ground pin is on top, perhaps that would allow the power cable to stay in better, I haven't tried it yet though due to laziness. That might be something to consider with your outlet, of course ONLY if you're comfortable dealing with the power outlet and know what you're doing. It's pretty easy.

It's ironic because Pangea claims their power cords are lighter and more flexible than other audiophile power cords, but they're not, especially the AC-9, so I just left mine plugged into the back of my amp, and the male end is plugged into a PS Audio Juice Bar II, so it's standing straight up and there's no sagging issue. Maybe another solution for you: get a power strip that will allow you to plug the power cord straight down, in other words, the actual outlets on the strip would be facing the ceiling.

Other than that, like Gary said, put some kind of support under it, that should work. Despite these annoyances the Pangea power cords are actually a good value IMO, downright cheap compared to other similar offerings by different companies. And you did get a really good deal.

I have seen IEC sockets which have a retaining clip, spring loaded which fits over the plug and holds it in place, we have them on some of our professional audio gear like our Digital mixing console power supplies and some of our amplifier racks.
Im not sure where you would get them from but Im sure a Google search would turn them up.................

Where did you find 3 for the price of one and free shipping? Have any wood working tools? Make yourself some sort of "gizmo" out of wood that has a foot on the bottom and an upright, kind of like a letter "T" upsidedown. Drill a hole a bit bigger than the cord at the correct height for each outlet. Then cut a slot out to the edge. Slide in the cord and "presto" you will have something that supports the cord. If you want to be fancy you could stain or paint the thing. It would also help keep the cords spaced out and away from each other.

Thanks for the replies. Some fellow on Audiogon was selling them. Two 1m for my monobloc amps and one 1.5m for the preamp worked out perfectly. Must be a fairly common problem with Pangea cords as I see the bottom has dropped out of their price at the retail level ($29.99 for an AC-14 1m cord). I agree that they are a excellent deal.

I don't think the price has anything to do with a problem, these are fairly new, and it's a marketing strategy to offer them at "introductory prices," and compare that with the full retail prices. IME this is in the hopes that lots of people will take advantage of the cheap prices, then like the power cord, and then tell other people about it. There's a lot in a name in the hi-fi industry, so they have to build up a reputation for themselves.

Whether or not they will eventually be sold for anything close to the full retail prices remains to be seen, but right now they claim it's a limited 70% off discount.

Some rather interesting news about the Pangea AC-9 power cord in an Audio Adviser catalog that arrived at my house today. Since its release, Audio Adviser has been advertising the AC-9 as a 9 gauge power cord. This, they say, was due to a clerical error, and the AC-9 is in fact a 7 gauge power cord.

That's cool, but it begs the question: why didn't they just call it AC-7?

You could just make supports for it out of some wood dowel (see photo); only tool required is a saw.
