I just received 8 brand new woofers from Orevox. Nothing wrong with the old ones, just want to have original replacements on hand if and when the foam surrounds go south. The woofers are indeed $24 apiece, and with shipping to Jersey the price was $240.

Imagine my surprise when I went to my daughter's friend's house to pack up stuff for a camping trip we had arranged. I had been to their house a couple times before but never had seen into the "study." I had been reading this thread on Friday. Thanks to you all, I could identify right off what I saw through the door - Carver Amazings, Original model. Two 30 inch ribbons, now that I have seen Doc's pictures they are the silver ones not gold. Wow! I had no idea he was into this.

He's had them about 7 years. Runs them with a big ol stack of Adcom. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to hear them since he had recently finished a DIY mini monitor and that's what was hooked up (and it sounded pretty darn good.) The room is really too small for the Amazings, but it was good for the little ones. We need to talk the rest of the family into letting the Amazings out to play.

The girls were really bummed when we talked audio half the way to the mountains, but they started to play Pokemon on their gameboys and the talk from the back was just like another language (what they thought we were doing in the front.)
