Please help the AK Database!

Looking for AU-517/AU-717 owners manual

Hi all. I hope this is in the proper forum.

Does anyone have a copy of the AU-517/AU-717 owners manual? (Not the service manual--I've got that and have sent it in to the database gurus). If so, let me know. I've got an AU-517 on the way to me and I'd like to make sure I know what I'm doing with it.

I can't access the Sansui manual database--keep getting a "fatal error" message saying the database has crashed and needs to be repaired. Does anybody else get this? Has anyone else accessed the database lately?

Thanks!

I've sent the info to Grumpy, so the admins are aware of the DB problem. Hopefully they get it fixed soon.

Casey, I would keep it as a stickie. People can still post serial numbers here. When I have time, I still plan to revive the database and can add in the new numbers.

As the database is inoperative and it's doubtful that anyone will attempt to re-establish it it makes no sense to have it "stickied"
the thread will remain available, simply not on page 1 of the forum.
If the Admins solve the issues with the database I'll happily re-stickie the thread.

Casey, isn't this a 'catch 22' situation ?

People will be disinclined to update the information if the database isn't working, and conversely the database is unlikely to be fixed if the information is not updated/maintained.

So, shouldn't we be doing all we can to make both happen, and take Pete up on his offer?

Pete and John,

The sticky in question is the "please help the AK service manuals data base", not the Sansui Equipment Database for Serial numbers, which is still stickied at the top of the forum.

Cheers

John

There are two database issues here, one is the AK database, which with the new server has become inoperative, then the fellow that was doing the task became frustrated and gave up the task when he couldn't get the problems solved.
The other is the Sansui database which Paul moved to the AK server before he left, which I elected not to take the time to keep up. I asked the Admins and I cannot get authorization for anyone else to get the level of access required to work on the problem, so it probably won't gain any updates, but such as it is will still remain on the site, not that access is reliable as the new server company is working other site problems. Sometimes the whole site "freezes" now, and pages take forever to load.
If possible I'll continue to push for the cause, but I simply do not have the time, or computer skills to do it myself.
