Show Me Your Sansui!

Love this tread, to many cool Sansui gear that I love to have.
I got this one and I don't know any thing about this one, it was given to me from a good friend that passed away recently.

ANY info would be appreciated.

Sansui T-730 Quartz Tuner

I wanted to post my latest find.
I had been looking for a tuner in my area for several months now in order to complete a setup I have been building; checking yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores, but to no avail.
I took my father to an auction yesterday and found one and was astonished to end my search!

Sansui T-730 Quartz Digital Tuner. I was in really good condition and it came with a box of wires and about a hundred banana plugs that were thrown in the lot.
It was $12.50 after the 15% buyer's premium.

It is my first Sansui purchase.

I have researched the tuner and have found very little information.

I wanted to post this in the Sansui forum.
I attached a photo and hope I uploaded it correctly.

OK that burled walnut is SICK. Very nice!

Appreciate the kind words. It was much more work than the figured cherry, since it wasn't the paper-backed stuff. Using unbacked veneeer is on whole new level of difficulty (at least for me). First I had to flatten it using glycerin, alcohol and wood glue and clamping it between two sheets of melamine. Then you have to join the sheets so you don't have gaps in the joints. Then you have to clamp the veneer down to the substrate. I'm not sure I'll do this again, but I was really pleased with the outcome. A lot more work than just using contact cement with the paper-backed stuff.

It's not bigger!!!
It's the angle I have chosen for taking the photos that made it look bigger.
It is also the dark cover of the SR-929 looking bigger than the transparent cover of the 838.
Additionally the feet of the 929 are adjustable. I have adjusted it to be taller than the 838.
The two turntables have almost the same size. 838 is 0.5 cm bigger than the 929 !!!

Conclusion: Don't believe what you see in the photos. :banana:

Hi flameroids, I am in the process of buying a 8080 like yours...looks great! Does yours have LED lights? Looks like it....is it the warm white LED's? I'm trying to find a good example for comparison. Thanks!!

Thanks jomark911, I will try and separate the speakers a bit more. Not much space left :(

RTR = pioneer rt-707
TT = luxman pd-282
Speaker = Tannoy hpd-385s in diy cabinet

Serial number info

Hi there again, folks!

Long time no posting here!

Anyway, I had another AU-317 recapped and a stick behind it which I believe shows both the year of manufacturing (in red) and (Dutch) price? 350.00 guilders (old Dutch currency) shown in picture #3 maybe, but I'm not shure...

Does anybody know it?

Cheers! :music:

To my excitement I saw this excellent condition and very rare UK Sansui AU-X1 on an Ebay UK 'Buy It Now' this morning.It's working,but could do with a service as one channel has a slight noise,which you can only hear when playing music at low volume,and a few bulbs are out etc.Anyway I purchased it,gonna be delivered to me next Saturday (13th),by the seller as it's very heavy and risky to pack.
Really looking forward to this one,will post a better pic when the time comes :hdphones:
