Put in the Fisher, verified through the OABB.
The Marantz is still a mystery, I believe what your tech discovered, but might we find an advertisement or review? Rated output is what we're looking for, and that may put it in the 100-130 wpc list. I will be happy to add the SR-9000G wherever it is appropriate for our lists.

what about my Akai Ps-120m i posted pics of it awhile back, its gotta be up there i dont know the wattage numbers on it but its dials go up to 240+ and i could bury them fairly easy if i had some more power hungry speakers. It would blow any speakers that i own right now.

550 watts coming in from the outlet.
 
Orion lists Akai receivers with the prefixes "AA" & "AS". The AA-1200 is listed in the other thread that lists receivers of 100-130 wpc. This thread is of the very large receivers of 150 and more wpc. I will update either list if we can verify output per channel. I rely on Orion, which is not complete or always accurate.
 
is the AA 1200 supposly the same as the PS-120m?

i'am positive it puts out more then 150 "going by the meters anyways becuase ive had it up to around 180- 200 contant not just spiking up. and this was with the preamp at about 2 oclock and the amp inputs at about 3/4

Its to bad there is no info on this amp. The manual for the preamp and tuner are both there but the amp manual isn't.
 
Are we excluding McIntosh amps from this list? (and the 100-150wpc list for that matter?) I have a MC 2155 which is conservatively rated at 150 wpc.
I also have a Akai AA1175 receiver in the basement (c.1976.) <- wonder

There is another big Sanyo of some sort. What its output is I don't know. I actually bid on it when it was up on ebay. I think I ended up bowing out because it was when I closed the deal on my second Fisher RS-1060 and did not want to overbudget on audio at the time. It was not a Plus 200 and not a JCX-2900K but was over 60lbs, which was what drew my attention to it in the first place. Don't want to be wrong here but it might have been a JCX-3900K... Another possiblility is that whatever its model was the formal model number given to the Plus 200. I will keep on the lookout.

I know it was a while ago, but I dont know how I missed whatever it was (big Sanyo) that You bid on (my loss). Aside from Stereo Review's year end buyer guide from 1981, which verified the existence of the Sanyo Plus 130 as the companies TOTL receiver at that time. Another AK member who worked in the field at the time, rumored that he saw ad brochure's for the JCX-3900, I cannot verify that there was anything really bigger than the JCX-2900K (a formidable contender in the 120W class). It has been over two years since I have seen the only Plus 130 on ebay, and have never (4 years) seen a Plus 200. Sanyo was really putting forth an effort to compete at the end of the Vintage era, so it makes sense that they would have offerings for the receiver "wars". Since they never gained respect or marketshare, I guess few of these high enders ever sold. Orion lists the plus 200 ( I think) and this is how it was added to the the AK listings, but is there anyone out there that actually has an example of a JCX-3900, Plus 200, or Plus 130 for that matter ???? I am of the belief at this point, that having any of these three, may qualify You as possibly having one of the rarest Vintage receivers on the planet. As a crazy obsessed fan of Sanyo Vintage, I am kind of bummed here, since even though few and far between, we've seen a couple of Fisher RS-1080's, Akai AA-1200's, Yammie CR-3020's, Huge Optonica's, Hitachi SR 2004's and other pretty obscure TOTL's, but not the Sanyo's. We know G33000's existed, and even Marantz 2600's are not all that rare, just really expensive, I suppose the neighbors and friends just said "wow" if You would have carted one of those home in 1979, but to spend a grand or so on a Sanyo apparently was just not "cool". Cool for me if I ever find one, but I think it is a fleeting hope. Still enjoying my JCX-2900K, very sweet machine indeed, and for right now, what is in my mind the TOTL Sanyo vintage receiver.
 
I remember the auction for this big Sanyo clear as day. I even have enough of a recollection that if I was a better artist I could actually draw it. My strategy has been to find improperly listed stuff, stuff listed so vaguely that it does not turn up in the average search, in fact I would never have ended up with that RS-1080 for $20 if I had not watched closely. If I recall the Sanyo only went for $150 or so, but having the other in the wings I did not have enough spare cash for both at the time. I would not however doubt they exist, I would think they would but in small quantity, or they are out there and one is needed to get the ball rolling. I am almost certain what I saw was a JCX-3900K, I know it was not a Plus series, I know what the 2900K looks like and I have seen advertisements for the Plus 200 in some old magazines I have (I actually have a two page ad detailing the Plus 200 somewhere I can try and dig out if you are interested). I would still lean towards even the Plus 200 being out there, after all I waited two years before a Fisher RS-1080 finally came up. Then after the first (mine) got $200 a few more surfaced on its heels, look how many MCS 3125s are out there at the present. Counting the one RS-1080 in Europe that was 5 in the period of a year after two years of no shows (actually when CUlater gets his 3 will be in the hands of AK members). I have only ever seen 3 Fisher RS-1060s cross ebay, the first of which was mine, there were two early this year if I recall, my second was acquired before it could ever get to ebay. Come to think of it how many Project One Mark 1500s have there been? I have seen 4 since I got the first Fisher RS-1060. One was parts only, totally messed, and the other three that I know of I bought. There was a good deal of time between there, at least a year, but I rememebered what it was like internally and knew I was buying one as soon as I saw it. They don't fetch a great deal of money (which is why I bought all three), and it seems you don't see very many either. Of course if something as odd as my Audiograph 2A100 was built I would find it hard to believe that Sanyo did not turn out at least of few of them, even if not many. BTW how many GTE 2600s have we seen? MCS Guy has one and I have one, mine was the only I have seen on ebay. Just keep watching and hopefully one will turn up, might just take some time. They may be rare but I have a feeling they are out there.

The encouraging words really help, patience is certainly a virtue in this area. Of course, I believe there were some of the big Sanyo's that were produced, the question remains did any survive(?), and that is the hope as well. Few surface, and with these threads, the value gets pushed up. If and when we ever see one, the ad will certainly state "Very rare", at this point, which will inflate the price further. So goes the quest. Right as well of the MCS 3125, which has gained well deserved respect, and commands higher pricetags than several years ago. It is good to know AK'ers are on the watch however, perhaps the time will arrive and one will show. And when there's one, there are more.
Yrly best of luck on the 797 from the other post - If you get it up - I bet You will not get rid of it - one piece of beautiful machine that does what it does perfectly. And 60 watts my @$$, nothing quite like it.

List is of receivers only. I forget who, but someone was doing a separate list of integrated amps a while back...should show up on a thread search...

I have an Akai AA1200 and AA1175 - 1200 is 120w/ch and is listed on the 100-150w/ch list around here. 1175 is almost the same receiver minus the power meters, rated at 75w/ch. Nice dual power supply receivers, with one of the smoothest tuners around. Lets keep that last bit to ourselves, so it doesn't ruin the bargains on this underappreciated brand... :D
 
Picked up the RS-1080 tonight. Really minty, no dust, fingerprints, burnt out bulbs, ...nothing, just perfect. :banana:

That is, I barely could pick it up. Can't imagine anyone shipping this successfully, which is why I was willing to go so high on a local one.

OMG. :yikes: This sucker can make speakers become seismic destruction tools. What impressed me was as it reached truly painful levels, even WITH the bass control turned up there was absolutely no flicker in the front panel lights. Stout, beer-can-size capped power supply in there...

This is going to be fun...biggest problem is deciding on which speakers can be sacrificed to the sonic gods... :rockon:
 
Ok, last post on this thread tonight - anybody have a JCX-2900k service manual that I could buy a copy of? Mine works, but none of the tone controls have any effect on the sound...gotta get around to fixing it and comparing it to the RS-1080.

My 1980 Hi Fi Annual shows only the JCX-2900k at the top of the Sanyo heap, as does Orion...
 
Welp, there's always the Marantz 2325 which is somewhat under-rated by the factory at 125 watts @ 8 ohms per channels....not sure, but am pretty sure I heard these heaps are pushing closer to 150. Can anyone confirm or refute?
