I never see much talk about electronic music on here. Is there no love for electro on AK?

Currently playing: London Elektricity - Syncopated City LP (2008)

I mostly listen to various types of electronic music. It started in the 90's with an interest in 80's synthpop, then later I was introduced to modern techno and trance at clubs. Now I'm mostly interested in modern synthpop, and the less harsh sounding EBM and industrial. It's a hard genre to get into because much of it is very harsh and dark, and it's not really organized at all.

Most of the music I buy seems to come from one of these record companies:

I was just cruising through the music thread making sure no one posted a Chill, Trance, Electronica, Club, etc. playlist so I could start one. Found it!

There doesn’t seem to be a place (until now) for chill, trance, electronic, new age, dj-club-style music. The genres are so blurred in this department that I could probably list 30 more but it basically boils down to music for your brain and/or body? Ethereal sounds to relax or move to?

Thanks for starting one! Here's a list of what I have played recently from my collection:

Afterlife – Shine
Blank and Jones – Time Beyond Time
Bluemind – Really
Boozoo Bajou – Under my Sensi (Thievery Corporation Mix)
Café del Mar – Sundance/Sun Electric
Cantoma – Marisi
D Zhan and Kamien – Homebase
Future Sound of London – Lifeforms
Jeff Bennett Lounge Experience – Dreams
Jose Padilla – Walking on Air
Kinobe – Slip into Something More Comfortable
Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra – P Walk
Thievery Corporation – The Forgotten People
Paul Oakenfold – Live in Miami
Dave Seaman – Renaissance Desire
Kruder & Dorfmeister – K&D Sessions
Nick Warren – Global Underground Amsterdam
Paul van Dyk – Vorsprung
Danny Howells – Nocturnal Frequencies

and right now:

If you like electronic music, check out a band called Royksopp. This band rocks and they have the background music in the Geico commercial with the Caveman in the airport shouldering a tennis racket. Real complex and sophisticated arrangements, I highly recommend.

I'm all for an electronic now-playing thread. The electro in the title threw me a bit though. Maybe it should be something more general.

I like all sorts of electronic from Delia Derbishire to Kraftwerk to Meat Beat Manifesto, Boards of Canada, Crystal Method etc.

Currently: Meat Beat Manifesto - Acid Again

Great stuff listed so far people!

Agreed. Hey Z4N5H1N, if you don't mind, maybe we can get the moderators to change the title to "Today's Electronic, Chill, Trance, etc. Playlist" ???

Thanks again for starting this! :thmbsp:
