I recently purchased and OnkyoT-4055 tuner, any input? I'm looking for a good analog tuner to match my Onkyo M-5100 amp and yahama CX-2 preamp.
Thanks for all your input.

There are lots of awesome tuners. They can get very expensive in a hurry. If we knew your budget that could narrow it down.

With unlimited budget I would take a look at:

Tandberg TPT 3001A
Day Sequerra Studio Reference
Magnum Dynalab MD-109

Be prepared to pay a mortgage for one of those and to enjoy them fully takes quite a set-up.

Add to the tuners already mentioned the Yamaha CT-7000, revox B-260S and - matching your Onkyo - The Onkyo T-9090(II).

Sansui TU-X1, Kenwood 600T, Marantz 20, Technics ST-9030.
Honorable mention: Onkyo Integra T-4087, Onkyo Integra T-4500, Sony ST-J75.

Let's not forget the Carver TX-11. There is also the Mac MR-78. Doesn't have to cost a fortune to be one of the best.

Loaded question, kind of like asking what's the best red wine. My $0.07 ( adjusted for inflation ): Marantz 10b and 20b, McIntosh MR-71 and MR-78,
Pioneer F-26 & F28, Fisher FM-200b & FM-1000, Kenwood LO series, and others that have been mentioned here.

Best FM tuners ever!

REL Precedent (more lab instrument than tuner)
Sequerra Broadcast Monitor (very few built, most were sold to the FCC)
Marantz 10B (on strong local stations)
HH Scott Broadcast Monitors
McIntosh tuners
Older Fisher tuners pre-1971

I've been trying to buy a Sequerra Broadcast Standard (from 1998, the last production model with panalyzer, as opposed to the upgrades) for a very long time, with no luck. I suspect it's the best tuner ever made, but with no reviews and none available...

For a tuner one can actually purchase, the Accuphase T-109V is my favorite, and it's the one I use the most.

The problem here is that I think what you want to know is what's the best tuner for YOUR system, implying that it should be in similar price range, etc. The answers you're getting are about the BEST tuner, regardless of price or any other factor.

I'd have to give another vote for the Sansui TU-X1.

fmtunerinfo.com has many reviews of them....

An older tuner will need to be properly aligned.

Ask the reviewers who tested what on what set-up and you will know how unsure these tests are when it comes to quality of sound.

I have a Fisher FM-200b and feel it deserves it's place among the top tuners. But my Sansui TU-999 sounds about as good, for less money. Be aware that I'm just talking sound quality, I'm not trying to pull in stations from far away.

Kenwood KT-8300, KT-7500, Akai AT-2600 are "moderately" priced analog tuners that offer good performance.
