Looking for Sansui amp equal to Sansui 4000

Looking for Sansui amp equal to Sansui 4000 receiver

Thanks to the kind folks here, about a year ago I purchased my first Sansui receiver. The 4000 model. A buddy asked my I didn't just but a Sansui Amp? I thought for a moment, because I never owned an amp for the house in the past. But back in those days, I listened to the radio way more than today. OK, if I were to look for an amp in comparison to the 4000 in sound, what model would I look for? I choose the 4000 due to the many suggestions of the units warmth in sound. And why buy an amp instead of a receiver? Thanks

Whether you buy an amp or a receiver all depends on what you plan on doing with it it and what you like to hear. If that weren't true, they wouldn't have built both. Your buddy should know that.

I have both, and they both serve different purposes.

Sansui AU-101 is a nice warm sounding amp.. if you need more power,perhaps a AU-555.

To roughly match the 4000 receiver I would choose the AU 555a and a TU 666 round dial tuner. I have that set-up in my bedroom and it's worked flawlessly for several years now.
