Missing Tonearm Weight on SR-313

Hi folks,

About a year ago I picked up a Sansui SR-313 and had it serviced by a reputable shop. It seemed to be working fine until just recently when the needle started popping out of the outermost grooves, sometimes when the music had started, and other times in the lead-in groove. As I was researching this table, I see that I am missing the weight on the left side of the arm, shown here:

Maybe the table was just barely set up enough to play despite the missing weight. I don't know. Maybe I did something recently that would normally be minor but was exacerbated by the lack of weight.

Could anyone help troubleshoot this, or recommend how I might go about replacing the missing weight? Thanks!

The missing part is the "lateral weight" and its function is to somewhat compensate for the turntable not being completely level. Its effect is minor and suspect that your skipping problem is due to something else. I suggest that you verify that the settings for the vertical tracking force and the anti-skate.
