A Sansui accessory tool box and an early HF amp

Sansui tool box accessory.

The toolbox sold for 490 yen on Yahoo, Japan for $6.80. (plus shipping from Japan which would of been expensivel). I just don't know why the Japanese post office is so expensive internationally???

And some very early mono Sansui equipment shots (around 1955): Just for fun.

Power Amp is an HF.
Preamp AM tuner is an HPR-200 (Seen photos with all black knobs and others with all white knobs. I guess, at different times, they came with white or black.)

Power transformer power amplifiers Williamson P-44, the choke C905, BW742 tube output transformer used in 5Y3GT, 6V6GT, 6V6GT, 6SN7GT, 6SN7GT is a book of 5. AM tube preamp with a tuner using 12AX7, 12AX7, 12AT7, 6BD6 book is four. AM tuner volume is low or because the utility had to lower the antenna. The power amplifier output transformer, CR replacement parts we kind of degradation. The preamplifier has a kind of equalizer 6, SP, AES, LON, COL, RIAA, NAB is.

Sold on Yahoo Japan for 30,500 yen...about $425.

I never noticed it before until right now but -- the HF amplifier (top) may be one of Sansui's early "Kits", of which photos are extremely rare to find. I'll have to check that out. Nice shots of the wiring.

Nice antenna.

I'm looking for a Sansui FM 'T' wire antenna. The search goes on. It's the only Sansui item I need now (along with a TU-701 or TU-711 but I have a TU-717). Saw the FM antenna for sale 5 years ago. I really wish I would of bought it. Could of got it for $50.

Thanks for the photo of the AM antenna!! Most appreciated!!

Dig the tool box. I could put that to good use.
Yes, that is a cool tool box. But it's too hard to purchase from Yahoo Japan, not impossible, but very hard and you have to pay middleman rates and shipping costs which are really tooooo expensive for what it's worth.

And without pics of the contents, we all know it contains a complete compliment of the unobtanium and veryrarium needed to fix any number of vintage Sansui Collectors items. You know the SR azimuth adjust headshells, NLA power transistors, a few knobs switches buttons and dials and on and on. Probably 30 pounds worth of parts...Someone got a nice collectible.

or just a rusty hammer :D

With such a toolbox I would change occupation and I would call myself "doctor Sansui" and make house calls to revive all sick old Sansui patients.

.. who you gonna call? Doctor Sansui!
.. open up that lid, the doctor is here..
.. how is your bias today..when did you measure it last?

Now I think I get carried away a bit. It's probably that Sansui virus playing up again. I better call a doctor. But who??

.. who you gonna call? Doctor Sansui!

No not again!

-John-

PS
Now see what you have made me do. Don't show me any Sansui goodies again please.

That little toolbox is cool..

I saw someone on here selling Sansui speaker wire too..

As curator of the classic Sansui museum I have a few of those items, I have the Sansui dipole FM antenna, several "polishing cloths", some RCA jumpers. I also have a great 3 ring binder for shop manuals.
Sansui used to give you all kinds of neat stuff when you bought the gear.
I also have a Seiko watch with the Sansui logo on the face.:D

nosirrah: What is the Sansui dipole FM antenna?? It that the simple "T" wire FM antenna, or a metal one, or what exactly??

Sansui accessories are fun and sometimes really wonderous when used. They are really very hard to find now-a-days, even internationally. All Sansui's accessories that I have purchased have been purchased internationally (from outside USA) except for the 1970 wooden speaker stands (believe I paid $125 plus shipping). Glad I bought them, never seen another pair for sale ever. Did see one pair of Sansui's wooden speaker stands, painted black (with logo), tall ones (1 foot - 1 inch or so, but slightly smaller in size, like maybe for the size of the SP-200, like that), same era (1970-1972ish) but it was on Yahoo Japan so I passed. I 'really do wish' I would of purchased them. I do regret passing up on those. Guess it would of ended up costing, including shipping and all, maybe $250-$275. They would of fit the AS series speakers perfect and given them height too. Nice stands if your into the old 1970 simple wooden ones.

I just picked up 3 pair of Sansui's gray RCA type interconnects a couple weeks ago, the ones with the logo, from a gentleman in Germany who was nice enough to sell them to me, you know, international sale. He didn't have to do that. He sells to Germany only. Nice guy! Been looking for one pair of those exact interconnects for over 5 years and to find 3 pair 'at one time' was quite a lucky find.

Still looking for a few more accessories like the "T" wire antenna. 5 years ago I had the chance to buy one, in perfect shape, it went for like $45-$50 plus shipping, so I passed on it. Man...That was a big mistake. Never seen another one for sale anywhere, domestically or internationally. But...I keep looking. Someday another one will 'pop-up', I hope.

Also looking for some cables that I know I will 'never' find but I still look domestically and internationally daily. If they 'ever' come up for sale, anywhere...I'm on it and I don't care what they cost.

I found this out about accessories: The ' secret ' to getting accessories is when you have the chance to buy them, GET THEM! Cause you'll rarely, if ever, see it again for sale.

That little toolbox is cool.

Yes, it is cool! :>) And an extremely 'rare' item too. Probably not to many of those left, and none in the USA. And it was in perfect shape too!

I have one of the dipole antennas that came with a 1000A receiver - it was stapled to the back of my Barzilay cabinet. I also have the accessory bag with the AM antenna still inside. Unfortunately the owner's manual was lost due to unforseen circumstances.

Yes, the antenna is the "T" wire type. with the Sansui logo on it.
IIRC it came with a 4000 I got from the original buyer, an Air Force guy that had bought it in the Phillipines around the time of the Vietnam war. He had the box it came in, and all that stuff was in the box.:thmbsp:
It had spare lamps, interconnect cables with the logo, the antenna, everything one might need. Now that's customer service!

Nice box set.

That antenna is next to impossible to find, in any country. :thmbsp: I'm looking!!

Sansui accessories just aren't around very much anymore. They are really getting super ' hard to find' if your looking for them, especially specific items. Accessories still do come up internationally, from time to time, but rarely in the USA. It's really nice to finally find something that you have been looking for. Just wish it was easier to buy off Yahoo Japan. Seen 'many' really cool, and very useful, Sansui items I would of liked to purchased over the years.

Do you have any photos of the antenna??? I'd really like to see it. :>)

Unfortunately, I had a multitude of a great many of thousands and thousands of Sansui photos of 'everything' since the beginning but it all got lost in cyberspace, or somewhere. But it's ok, I have them all in DOC format but I don't know how to put them back into postable fotos. Anyway, here are some accessorie photos that I still have that are postable. Maybe you've seen some, I'm sure, maybe some you haven't seen.

I could of bought the 3 different colored ashtrays from Yahoo Japan but just didn't. I was thinking about it. They sold for a song.

Some of these photos I did get from a good Sansui friend!, but I can't remember which ones.

The 4 channel blue colored record is 'super rare'. It 'never' comes up for sale, ever. Another one of those items that I should of purchased, for sure, to wall frame it. I believe it's a Sansui Japanese Only LP.

Note the 7 inch reel to reel pre-recorded tape!

I honestly really do wish I would of bought that LP. Just for the cover. You know, frame it.

(if any of you guys want to know many of Sansui's LP, I can post the names. Lost all the photos.

Awesome, ashtrays..........how very '70s......I remember it was quite common to have ashtrays as accessories around that era....
I can't imagine it would be very "PC" to do that these days........

You have a great stash of accessories.....very cool.....:thmbsp:
