I auditioned them years ago and decided not to buy because they didn't have enough low bass to do justice to the orchestra music that I love. I recall that they did a lot of things right in the mids and highs and threw a very well-defined soundstage. They'd be a great choice for a jazz listener or a chamber music fan.

I always thought they sound great with a Naim system. They don't do everything and are not full range but what they do they do well!

I have a passive pair of cherry Keilidhs...Ihave them bi-wired with PS Audio Statment cables....love them....possibly looking into a set of Majiks....

Hi... I have had a nice pair of Keilidhs for 12 years. All McIntosh system. 2205 amp and now 1.2's. I like these speakers.

I bought my Keilidh's 12 years ago and never looked back. I live in a condo, so admittedly, never really turn up to ear-splitting levels, but as a classic jazz and folk fan, these are perfect. One of my favorite tests for a speaker is not how loud it plays, but how well it performs at low levels. These loose nothing at those intimate levels.

BTW- I have them bi-wired to an Adcom GFA 555 Mk II. Associated equipment is Linn Waukonda, and Linn Mimik.

I think, the Keilidhs are quite sensitive regarding the amp. When I bought them long ago, I tried several different amps in the shop for hours. I heared them with Yamaha and Denon consumer grade amps - and that was awfull. A Harman-Kardon Receiver did the job then much better and right now, I have them connected to an old Harman Kardon PM655Vxi amp, which gave a real boost to the Keilidh's bass.
Just like will1960's choice of music, I mostly listen to acoustic music (voices, paino, folk, smaller classical ensembles, jazz), but they do well with my occassional Led Zep or Queen cd as well.

The Keilidh's strength, I think, is there neutrality. Some people may consider that boring, but for natural sound, they are hard to beat in their price range and small size.

I just added an MCD500 McIntosh CD player to my McIntosh 1.2k amps and my Keilidh's (which are in gorgeous condition) sound really nice. I'm listening to mostly Blues and some Rock.

The room is a nice size. The speakers are about 30 inches from the back wall and about 8 feet between them. The side walls are about 4 and 6 feet away from the speakers and those side walls fan outward. One of the side walls is 27 feet long and the other is 12 feet long. The speakers are just barely toed in.

The speakers have some cool 4 inch spikes and sit on concrete blocks which have many coats of multi coloured laquer paint on them. Then the concrete blocks are sitting on some hard red 2 inch rubber feet. So the speakers are now 43 inches high and look good. The speakers still have those silky black covers.

Man this sounds good.

I have a pair of Keilidh's and love them as well. My only complaint is the covers, mine aren't holding up too well. Which brings me to ask if there are replacement covers out there? I saw a set on the 'bay, but forgot to bid on them. Besides that, the speakers are holding up wonderfully and are beautifully made.

Saturday Morning Keilidhs and Coffee Blues...

yesssss!!!...

Hi... still love my Keilidhs. I am using an excellant MR78 McIntosh tuner and added a McIntosh 4100 receiver, in the system. I plan to move the 4100 to another room but it sounds really good stacked with the 78 for now. It's pretty fun to flip back and forth from the 4100 to the 78 sorta like presets. Maybe I'll keep that setup.

So, with that in mind...

Well, I scooped a Marantz 2270 and added it to the party. It's hard to leave when you can't find the door! The 2270 has a beautiful sound. It fits in with the other sources just fine! The light show is pretty nice, too. Now I have to decide which receiver goes to the other room. I've been workin' over that 2270 for 3 days and into the late nights too and I really like it. Lots of great Blues music.

But those Keilidhs! I think the problem is those Keilidhs. Sometimes I just stop what I'm doing and listen to the instruments, the music, the highs, the lows... and I'm sure you know what I mean. The Keilidhs sound really good and I just get used to them and then the volume creeps up. They are so clear at any volume and I am hooked.

I like stopping in the local hi end audio shop for coffee, yuk yuk and listening, as often as I can. Great guys there. The Keilidhs in my place are as pleasing as most of the speakers I'm hearing in shops. It would be fun to play with some different speakers for variety's sake but I don't see letting go of these Keilidhs for anything - yet.
