Surprise inside my Led Zep LP

I was going through my uncleaned collection of LP's looking for a candidate to clean and give a spin, preferably a near mint when I just happened to peak inside the cover and to my surprise in a brown paper bag (the type 45's were sold in) and there was a mint copy of the immigrant song by Zep in its original paper sleeve. What also came at a surprise was it's cost, $2.99. I thought that was high for one. The LZ Presence LP is not one with a price code so I figure it must be from the 70's. Presence was from 76 and this 45 has a date on it of 1970 and is an Atlantic Pressing. Anyone have any info they might be able to share. I would bet quite high that this 45 has never been played, absolutely pristine in all its beauty. It does have markings in the dead wax so does anybody know where I can find out about it? Thanks guys for your insights.

Did this have an original picture sleeve? If so, that's probably worth more than the record.
 
Immigrrant Song was on Led Zeppelin III,the one with the wheel on the cover(1970 release).Presence was released some six years later. Maybe someone just slipped the single in there because they didn't collect 45's per say and just wanted to keep the single along with their LP's. I did that myself considering i didn't by many 45's.
 
No picture sleeve, just the "The Atlantic Group" with its address. Oh yah, flip side is Hey, Hey, What Can I Do. EDIT: Found the receipt in the bag of 1986.

That's a nice collectible 45, particularly for the B side which did not appear on any album. No picture sleeve was issued with it.

I bought a Led Zeppelin album back in the day, specifically because it included that 45 with it. At the time, the b side of that 45 was the only place I could find that song and I wanted to have all the Led Zeppelin songs. I wish I could remember well enough to say for sure, but I think it may have been Presence. It came inside a paper sleeve that said Atlantic tucked inside the album cover with the main record being sold. Just a little extra bonus. Of course, not too many years later that song was on the cd box set.
 
Great 45. I have the original Japanese 45. Sounds freaking awesome.

Not sure what the value is, but likely worth more to you. This 45 is essential, IMO, since Zep is made for vinyl.

Would you believe I don't have an adapter for 45's! I did notice the grooves look much rougher looking. Not like the smoothness of an LP. Grainier would be a better term.
 
Cool find.. even without an adapter you can spin it.. just drop it on the platter, get it spinning, then use the back of your fingernail on the outside of the record to rub on the edge and get it to center.. done that quite a few times..
 
I bought this single back around 1986 - I believe mine was on Atlantic too and I'm thinking it was a re-release.
 
Regardless of the date, that's a great find. I paid $3.79 for an original Japanese 45 in 1978 or '79. That was pretty pricey back then but that was the only way I could get the song.

Was this 45 only pressed in Japan, or elsewhere, too? What is in the deadwax area? I know people pay premiums for RL pressings of some LZ LPs, but are there differences in this 45?

It's always fun when an LP comes with an unexpected bonus. This thread makes me wonder what "hidden treasures" may be tucked away in the sleeves of my latest batch of LPs. Have to start cleaning them soon! :D
 
. . . there are many copies of this "45 to found in the Amazon marketplace, with varying prices of course. (Also have seen more than a few on Alibris which has a very decent amount of used/new vinyl in their marketplace; not anywhere near the amount at Amazon though)
 
There was a US pressing of this. Very good sounding when you can find a nice example. The Japanese had better surfaces (very low noise)
