rs-5000 score?

deep in sound thought
i have a chance to grab up a very nice pair of rs-5000's. over all they are in outstanding shape with the woofers having fresh foam but the mids may need new foam in a bit.
ive already seen and herd them and they sound great on the sellers gear.
they are for sale at a great price(under $70)

thought and opinions on these?

thanks

Fair price especially with new foam. I have RS6000's and paid 60.00 for them and they needed to be refoamed. 4 poly woofers took at least 4hours to refoam.

I have a pair myself which were in need of surrounds for the woofers. Cabinets in 9+/10, same with grills. Paid basically what yours are going for with new surrounds. I like these alot, but they havent been in rotation for awhile. Too many speakers, not enough time. What was the seller using to drive them with? Mine seem to sound better with more power given to them. Sounded fine with 85 watts per channel, Sansui 8080db, sounded much better with 160, Sansui G9000db.

he had them running on a yammaha h/t reciever.
iam running a set of kappa 6.1's now bi-amped and i have more then enough power for the rs-5000's.

i didnt think to look but are they bi-ampable as well?

RS-5000's are not bi-ampable. I had a set for a while but the cabs weren't the greatest. I ended up parting them out and still have the woofers and crossovers. They just didn't do much for me once the RS 5B's and RS 4's came into the house.

thanks, i just found a pic.
eaither way i have enough power on tap for them.
ive been on a "smaller" infinity kick as of late.

these rs-5000's will be my next to try out. i absoultly love my kappa 6.1's and am hopeing to come acrost somthing to put into a rotation for my main 2 ch set up. ive found a few nice sets but so far nothing that i like quite as much as the kappa's.

will see tomorrow afternoon. ill post some pics when i get them home.

well i picked them up today, went to the speaker exchange and got the foams and some new dust caps for the woofers.

this was my first foam job on a small speaker and i think i did great.

they sound excellent but the level controls on the back are a little scratchy.

i have some contact cleaner, dose anyone think that will clean the controls good?

ill post some pics in a few.

sorry, just got my camera back from my sister-figures:D

here are some after pics of the rs-5000's. the woofer foams where done about 2 years ago by the guy i got them from. i just re foamed the mids and replaced the dust caps on the woofers.

tha cabinets and grilles are perfect as are the emits. i did some good a/b between these and my kappa's. i still prefer the kappa's but these are in the rotation 100%:thmbsp:.

the only thing i didnt like is that the cabinets are not braced. the baffels do vibrate some at higher power levels but i will add some braces soon and they sould be just fine.

one question, why is there a transformer for the tweeter?

I got the cabinets from Rod after he parted out his. Turns out I'd inadvertently bought a complete set of drivers on EBay (some times it's cheaper to buy EMIT's that way, believe it or not).

I just finished putting them back together, which included refoaming the woofers and mids, and while everything was apart I braced the cabinets. I just added a simple brace from front to rear, and I can tell you that these speakers sound pretty darn good right now. I've got them connected to my Kenwood 9050, which seems like a good match for them.

They also seem to do better off the floor a little bit. I'm using the stands that came with the drivers, I don't know if they were generic stands or something provided by Infinity, but they seem a good match for these speakers.
