I've been using a Yamaha CDX-596 since 2003 when I bought it new. It has been in continuous use since then (5-10 hours a week). So I would estimate it's logged up around 3500 hours max.
I've had no issues with it at all. It plays CD-Rs OK and all functions work as designed. It's in a smoke-free environment.
My query is: What components are likely to fail first and is it worthwhile repairing players like this? For example, is it worthwhile getting a spare optical block (if available)?
Any comments and help are most welcome.
