Grand Funk reissues

I've looked, but no cigar. If new vinyl reissues are out there for the Grand Funk Railroad, will you guys let me know where they're hiding?

I've never agreed with the critics on this one. Grand Funk was an awesome rock n' roll band. That Mel Schacher could really lay down some sweet bass lines.

They had a large following and sold tons of albums. What titles are you looking for?

I'm trying to track down decent copies of Grand Funk (red album) and Closer to Home.

I saw them live back in 1973, quite a good show!

Unfortunately, all my GFRR music was on 8-tracks! :sigh:

oooooooh REISSUE? I had the originals before the fire. I LOVE GFRR! Let me know if you find them I want to pick some up!

FWIW....the album you seek is currently available on RTR in a eprey offering, its in "mint" shape.A possibility for you funksters.I saw the band in '69 and they had mojo supreme!

they released that "trunk of Funk" cd set about 5 years ago but i don't remember a lp reissue.

I always think of that Simpsons episode where Homer is driving all the kids to school explaining Grand Funk to them.

The only reissue that I know of is Were an American Band. You can still find it on Ebay.
I am still looking for a copy of E Pluribus Funk that is not completely trashed. All of there 70s LPs are hard to find in good condition.

Don't know of any reissues... I'm still looking for an original copy of the "3D" cover that still has the spiky-shaped glasses (not punched out yet). All the (few) ones I have found are sans glasses.

If you're not set on getting a reissue, I'd say check out used record stores. I see lots of Grand Funk for cheap around here. They were one of the biggest-selling bands of the 70s, and the kids these days don't really listen to them, so they can be found easily.

FWIW I have a few of their CDs and they sound pretty good. The Live Album is cleaned up and the tracks are re-ordered to match the actual performance. They change the order to fit on the LP.

I've been (Grand Funk) Railroaded!

After posting in this thread earlier, I had a look through my stash of cassettes that I have bought on the cheap at Yard Sales and found this one.

It's not like having really good vinyl or even a good CD, but it sounds pretty good.

Of course, listening to GFRR on the 8-track in my 66 GTO sounded pretty good "back in the day".

I still have most of their stuff in vinyl but the condition doesn't meet audiokarma standards !!! I would recommend finding these two albums as they represent the bands two essential stages: Mark,Don and Mel 69-71 and Grand Funk Hits......I personally like the earlier stuff..who could resist T.N.U.C. I would also go for some updated funk.
