Recaping a AU-505 , i have found on the board F-2001 , 2 X 1uf 25V little Elna caps that are palish compared to "standard" Elna caps normally used.

I have no manual to find part description.

Wonder if someone knows if these have anything special, or can confirm they are standard grade electrolytics ?

I have either Elna Silmic II or Cerafines to replace them,

Great work, and thankyou for sharing! Where did you buy your caps and pots? I plan on doing a complete cap overhaul soon to my lil 505. I will do exactly what you did, but, have you found out if those two 1uf 25v caps on board F-2001 are special ones? Also, is it a good idea ta add a 2.2uf ceramic in paralell with the new 6800uf Nichicon Super Through?
Take Care,
Justin.

I bought all caps on Parts ConneXion, and pots on eBay.

I have added a 2.2uf 630V CBB capacitor to the power supply cap.

I now have a manual, and the 1uf 25V caps on the board F-2001 are marked as TC, maybe "Tantalum Capacitors".

Yes it sounds great, i paired it with my restored TU-70 and JBL's LX600 for my bedroom system.

I'm sometimes tempted to use it in my main system.

The only thing i dislike about this model, is that the tone control cannot be turned off completely, (there is no 0 "fixed" position) it's always inline...

But it sounds great anyway...

Those capacitors are sintered inside. Thought they were tantalums, but forum member ConradH wrote something like "aluminium oxide". At least, if you open them up, they are not normal caps since there is no foil inside, it will be a hard piece of black material.
You will find something in the "capacitor abyss" thread.

They will be in some low leakage position, so low leakage can be important.
If I would have to buy new components to replace anyway, I would go for the small Wima red MKP caps or similar instead of aluminium caps. Otherwise use your replacements if they are low leakage.
