1000X recap

Anyone have a cap list and service manual for the 1000X? Seems to be a popular and well-regarded receiver, but I don't see much info in the AK database or the web in general.

You have a nice receiver there. Regarding a capacitor list - I don't think I have seen one mentioned here, so you may have to make your own. Luckily there are very few errors on the schematic, so unusually for Sansui, you can use the schematic as a guide. You will want to bump up the values of the output coupling capacitors from 2200µF to maybe 4700µF and the same with the PSU smoothing capacitor, pretty much everything else can stay the same as installed now.

If you do an advanced search with "1000X" (omit quotes) as the keyword - you will find quite a few 1000X threads, which will help you on your way with your project.

Sorry for the errant post. I've resurrected an old thread in the digital docs that you might be familiar with. Also, thanks for the hint - that helps if I don't find a manual.

Here is the recap list I've come up with. I'm planning to do just the electrolytics, unless anyone suggests some others to do. I don't really know too much about selecting. Went with all Nichicon. Chose general purpose (UHE series) for power supply, and low leakage (UKL series) for everything else. Anything else I should think about replacing? Transistors and diodes all seem good in my unit.

Radex7 PM'd me a question about my cap list, and I thought it better to respond on the forum. This is a great little unit. Easy to work on and well worth a recap. Mine sounds good, but this was the first cap list I made and I would do it differently now. In the original list I used mostly KL series with a few HE series in the power supply. Now I'd use primarily Nichicon PW for power smoothing caps everywhere. For signal caps I'd use film for values 10uF and under, and KL series for larger signal caps. Haven't picked out the main filter caps - size and mounting are considerations there. If anyone starts with this list, scrub it carefully for errors. This is about $60 worth of part (plus the main filter caps). About half of that is 10uF WIMA films (8 of em). These could be replaced with KL series to lower the cost. There are also some transistors that should be replaced - definitely the 2SC458 in the driver boards. I've also seen threads where the 2SC693 have become noisy. KSC1845 are good replacements.
