Anyone use these yet? I'm intrigued by the fact that the inside of the cups are wooden like the RS series but the outers are a metal alloy ala the 325i which I own and enjoy already.

But at just under $1700USD they should do EVERYTHING right, IMO....

So? Anyone hear em?

No, but I wish. :) Seriously, they're supposed to be extreme performers, but I haven't read anything but reviews about them, no one in AK has mentioned owning or hearing them yet. Did you see how big those ear pads are? I like the color of the outer metal alloy part.

The color of those cups is definitely appealing. All I've read are reviews as well (head-fi, etc) I'm sure someone will chime in sooner or later...

I have not a lot points of comparison with other headphones (I have the K701, shure 500e, Westone 3): The PS- 1000 are clear playing in another league. It's very much more like enjoying music not from an headphone but from an very fine high-end loudspeaker System and much more like live listening. The bass response and the feel of it is what impress me a lot in hearing piano, organ, contrabass: its clear, dry, seems effortless without any limitation in precision at any frequency. Very deep notes of organ: you can feel them quite as with very good speakers, every note is clear to distinguish. In all other points of the music reproduction the PS 1000 is flawless as much as I can say. So everything is just fine. Not so with the others Headphones I have: they all have a particular way, not so neutral and / or not so enthusiastic way to play music.
I hear the PS 1000 directly from the output of the cowon S9 mp3-Player in neutral setting (only BBE+3). All music stored in PCM, 48kHz, 16bit, 1536kbps.
I am very glad that I can now enjoy music in a so pure way. Of course, the weakest part in the system is probably the S9...

The PS-1000 needs a lot of time (>100h?) of burning in!

They are good looking headphones, they also come with the new upgraded stock Grado cable. Most of the guys i know, say that the cable last longer than other grado cans...well built.

Very expensive cans, it will take me a year to buy them...i have heard that the sound is very similar to the HD800's in soundstage and transparency.
