Hi there, my first time posting so please be tender...

Here’s the setup:

Nobsound Tube Amp
Realistic mini tuner (TM-150)
Dual 1228 turntable

I know it’s basic... but now for the cool stuff: Fidelio Speakers (awesomeness) that I attached with old tulip chairs base (painted black). Not too shabby if I say so myself. Been playing around with components for a while but now got it right - sounds so so sweet!!

Im parallel there’s an AV surround with Koss M60 for front abs back and M80 as centre. Great sound.

Nice setup! My first real turntable back in the 70’s was a Dual 1228. Loved that turntable, but it was a complex beast (on the underside) if it got out of whack! Welcome to AK!

Thanks! We put it on for the first time. Worked perfectly... we had “chills” when listening to some older vinyl...

Great starter system and congrats. Mine in 1970's included a Marantz 2270 (which I still have) and a Dual 1228.

I like it!

Since I really cant justify spending multi-thousands cash I have looked to small budget solutions to decent music. I'm running a Monoprice 50 watt hybrid amp off my PC to Polk RTA12c's and enjoy this system very much. I enjoy and love to see the amazing systems others on AK run and have learned a lot here. But I'm happy to stay small and just enjoy the music.

Good for you!

Toe's in the audio water.

What's your main source for music, CD's/tape/records/streams?

Q

I actually use them all (except tapes). I love my old CDs but keep on switching... any insight with respect to matching g source with system?

Looks a lot like yours. I've been running it for about three years now and it has been a good cheap solutions to date.

It’s an amazing turntable, I got mine with a Shure M95ED cartridge, which was also amazing. Love your description of getting the “chills” when listening to it. I remember the same response when I got mine set up. What record/song were you listening to?

If you leave me now (Chicago).... it’s like a slap in the face to take you back in time!!

With the cost of records as they now are, you might want to DL your CD's into a player site, and there are several being offered. I tend to go with the "Sony Music Center" wherein I've tossed all my CD's into FLAC format. You can also expand your CD library by borrowing CD's from friends, library and most times , CD's can be had cheaper than the vinyl. Go figure? Then, down the road you have a load of great music files that can be DL'd into different formats and have portability as well. Later the FLAC content can be appreciated with a lossless player high/res that have come down price since it first hit the scene.

Slowly, you might be able to increase your record bank, and eventually progress up the pole in higher performing gear in time. Very few great systems have been built over night.

Anyways, just a few routes to consider as you enjoy the music no matter what or how.
