I have this exact same console rotting away in my garage....one of these days i will drag it out and listen to it...

My neighbor has that same console in storage over his garage. It's exactly the same except it has a Garrard SL65 record changer in it. His even has the Grundig dust protector bag that fits over the whole thing.

Hiya,

Standard German enginneering

Well a more than a few of these are PCB and after a couple decades sitting in someones Garage the boards are crumbly.

Great units but unless point to point construction they can be a PITA to restore IMHO if deteriorated. So spend a little time looking inside at the PCB's if applicable.

Parts unit

Yours is the exact color of one I have waiting for parts removal. It had sat unused for some 35 years. The thin veneer is very brittle and cracks easily around the edges. The seller powered it up without using a variac and used it for a couple of weeks before I got it and the Box IV extension speaker (sold). It blew a tiny .7 amp fuse before I got it. My plan is to keep the console as a storage compartment/entertainment center and sell the parts off. One wire was found to have come loose on one tweeter, but other than that and the blown fuse, all should be good..... for someone's restoration work. Not mine....

I've had a KS 620U sliding around the back of my wagon for the last week. No room for it. :sigh:

I had a Grundig mono console. Loved the sound but one day the magic music smoke started to leak out. I rushed it out of the house and had to hose it down to put the fire out.

Boo Hoo. I've got the perfect place and use for a console FM now.
