I don't know of a substitute, if you tried to 'make one up' using discrete JFET's - as far as I know all the possible choices for this are also obsolete. The only possible solution might be to use SMD JFET's, but they would probably need to be thermally coupled - not easy - unless someone knows...

I didn't see or remember that they were cut, but I absolutely don't doubt you if you say they were. :) Cut traces and added wires could be to break local ground loops. :idea:

Sometimes wires were added to increase the current carrying capacity of the connections. This is definitely the case with the added wires at the top of the boards as shown in the pictures.
