HTTPS Pages without Lock icon causing Log Outs?

I changed my Bookmark to HTTPS, deleted the AK cookie, emptied the caches but still getting random Log Outs.

I don't know if it's just me but I am consistently being Logged out (7 or 8 times this morning) by this Thread

https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/so-whats-the-deal-with-polk.855317/

It's only 3 Pages and all the Pages have https in the Address Bar but Page 2 does not show the Lock Icon, Page 1 and 3 do show the Lock Icon in the Address Bar.

If I go from Page 1 to Page 2 to Page 3, I get Logged out.
When I log in again I can go from Page 1 to 3 or 3 to 1 as much as I like but if I go from Page 2 to 3 or Page 2 to 1 I get logged out. I also get logged out if I go from Page 2 to "Speakers" or "Home"

All 3 Pages have HTTPS in the Address Bar but Page 2 does not show the Secure Lock Icon

"Home" does not show the Lock Icon but I do not get logged out going from Home to Speakers or Home to a "New Post" so it appears to be Pages that have https but not the Lock Icon that are causing my Logouts.

Curious if the the above Thread will cause Logouts for anybody else

Edit - well I found this page that doesn't show the Lock Icon but doesn't Log me out when I switch pages. https://audiokarma.org/forums/index...-running-vintage-empire-carts.468129/page-255

so I went back to the Polk Thread and that still Logs me out when I go from Page 2 to 3

I don't remember getting kicked out so many times before.

And yes, I have already changed my bookmark to the https version.

Why fix something that wasn't broken? (or am I missing something)? If it's the browser, I've been using Safari ever since I can remember.

I think you are missing something. The Admins and Moderators have been fielding a constant barrage of questions about "why is this site 'Not Secure' because that's what its showing in my browser address bar"? (browsers detect and show this state because of fears about web security these days). So, although it's a moot point whether this site actually 'needs' to use https:// (secure) as opposed to http:// (not secure) the Admins decided to make the changes and go to https:// - which of course will remove the 'Not Secure' message! All of which was fine until we find out that some browser/OS combinations are not happy with accessing a mixed content site as AK now is. So now, because these browsers are not patched up to date, or have incorrect settings, (or simply don't support mixed content?), people are getting logged out as they navigate between the secure login and unsecured pages or content.

I've been using Chrome ever since I can remember, my installation is fully up to date including all OS patches. To me, the site is exactly the same as before - and I haven't been logged out once. (and it also works with my Android phone - no issues)

Take your browser out behind the woodshed, and give it a good tune-up.

No problem on my android.

I'm pretty fed up. I keep getting logged out. This has been happening on multiple devices and for at least three days. I have the latest OS and latest Safari version. I have cleared history and cookies. Closed and re-opened (numerous times). Restarted computer. I have updated my "bookmark" with the "https" link. Yes I clicked the "stay logged in" box. Yet, when browsing around within AK, for instance, clicking a link to go to another thread, or the previous/next page in the thread I've been browsing (and even commenting in), I'm suddenly logged out. Ok, I log back in. Try to "like" a post, but am suddenly logged out again. Ok, log back in. The fine for a few clicks within the site, then suddenly logged back out again. I can be browsing 6 pages in to a forum with no issues, but when I click to go to page 7 of the same forum, suddenly I'm logged back out again.

WTH?

And I had to re-log back in to post the above comment, and I can't edit the comment to say so. Every time I try to click "edit" I get the same error: You must be logged in to perform that function" (or whatever it says). So I re-log in and it still won't let me edit the comment. Same message. So I have to post this new message.

And I had to re-log in to do that one, too!! (And probably this one, too!)

I think the only thing I'm missing is how the site used to be.

But, yes, I do appreciate the work done for security sake and I also appreciate your explanation.

Just voicing my frustration, that's all.

It's all good.

Well I just had my 1st spontaneous Log Out using Firefox 65.x
Happened after clicking the link in the 1st Post to another Thread https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/lexan-or-plexiglass.844572/
now the link to the other thread is http not https but that shouldn't log me out should it?...
I suspect it will. Instead of clicking on a link, try right-click and the "Open Link in New Tab" option. It will open a new tab for the old http:// link and your existing session will remain logged in.

In the address bar, simply type in https://

You will be magically logged back in. Something within your browser is mixing http and https pages thus " logging you out ".

In my case, I had a home screen AK quick-link, bookmark or whatever you call it. I removed it and all browser data, shut down phone and rebooted, and reloaded AK from where I made sure the new bookmark was HTTPS.

I have had no further trouble since then.

WTH?

Exactly to the letter, same with me DC, with the exception of NO Stored BOOKMARKS, OR FAVORITES ever USED HERE on any of my computers. !!
Very tiresome, and discouraging to use this site since the 14th of this month !!

I`m thinking about taking a vacation from A/K until the powers that are finish spraying enough "Raid" on the bugs in the sites software to maybe make using it again pleasurable & glitch free !!

I`m not going to change my browser or any other settings on my computer to work around a singular site`s issues with so many members, as especially those who subscribe having same or similar problems and it(my computer) working glitch free anywhere else I wander to on the internet !!

I don`t know why it was so ****ing important to encourage/push for the https conversion to begin with ?
Don`t know, nor care, but with so many complaints, sure looks like it might not have been a good idea !!
Probably un-log/kick me off posting this rant, it did when I tried to like your post DC !! Very Stable Site Audio Karma has become !!) NOT !!

I tried that but when I try to log in to the http AK so I can see the photos in that thread I can't. I would guess that I can't be logged in to the http and https version of AK at the same time.

I'm not a member of a lot of Internet Forums but AK is the only site where I'm having problems

Over 10 years since I worked in IT so I realize switching to https is not a matter of clicking on the "Easy" button but I do hope someone is trying to find a solution for us

When I follow that link as well, I finally get to the http:// url, which I am not logged into. However, I can see the pictures. And you're right, I can't log into the http:// url either.

Interesting, I have not had any problems since the switch to https:// ,I feel your pain but unfortunately I can't help much since I'm not seeing what you are.

I am having the problems again too. And cleared stuff out. I started with chrome, then migrated on this site over the Safari as Chrome continued to be glitchy, and that worked for a few weeks. Now Safari is doing it too, on and off. Very frustrating.

And now it won't let me edit what I just posted to say that I get logged out even trying to post that. And again! posting this!
