JBL Bullet tweeters

I will be adding a pair of 2402 bullet tweeters to my vintage rebuild. I want to add the tweeters to my 4638 theatre bins that came with 2446H Compression driver. I was told that the 2446 drop off the highs early so I want to add the 2402's to extend the range. I will be using Yamaha P 2200 for the 4638's and seperate P 2200 for the 2446H's and a Yami P 2100 for the 2402 tweeters. I will be using a DBX 260 Drive Rack for my X-over. I've read that I may need to add a capacitor to the 2402 tweeters but not sure why or if I need that if I'm using the DBX 260. Can anyone give me some input on this matter

Thanks Shane

I'm using a Solen 5.6uF 400V Polypropylene Capacitor for the 2405. For the 8 ohm compression driver, I'm using a Solen 39uF.

Theoretically the DBX 260 will do what is is supposed to do and the bullets will be fine. However, if you fat finger a setting or screw up which cable goes where you can cook the VCs...no big deal, just spend $xx to replace them. Or you can add the $5 (?) capacitor to protect the bullets from your possible mistakes. Cheap insurance is what you are adding.

Thanks Don

Yes I think you’re right Don. A little bit of $$$$$ for speaker protection. It was hard enough to find a great set of bullets (2402) to add to my vintage rebuild project to just pooch them.
