JVC P-3030 preamp?

We already knew that the vintage JVC components were a sleeper, and bound to be appreciated for their quality one day. So when I saw a JVC P-3030 preamp on THAT site, I tracked it. Must say I was surprised when it went for $266, and that made me think: did JVC have a line similar to Aurex by toshiba, that aimed at a slightly higher end image? I must say that this little slim preamp looks fine with its brushed aluminum face, but still that going price is saying something, especially as there were quite a few bidders. So? who knows what the deal is?

OOOO, nice! What a beautiful layout. Looks very functional and to the point.
"Laboratory" and "Victor" are actoaly JVC, as "Optonica" is to Sharp and "Aurex" is to Toshiba?

Victor, JVC is the same =Japan Victory Company
NIVICO =Nippons Victory Company
"laboratory" is the label for the best series from NIVICO/VICTOR/JVC

VICTOR is the trade name in Japan
JVC ist the trade name in USA/CANADA/EUROPA aso.
NIVICO is the trade name till ~1970

Graz,

with that many names, no wonder JVC didn't manage to create the same buzz Pioneer, Kenwood, Sansui and the rest created (although JVC's products were and still are excellent).

What a marketing lesson it is in branding :tears:

I recently purchased a JVC/Nivico 105E series preamp ONLY because I needed another preamp quick and cheap! I was very surprised at the quality of this unit. One of the best I've personally used! I'm now searching for the matching tuner and amp from this series. (wish me luck with that!)
