Klipsch Heritage S/N Dates Code decoder

They must have made a whole lot of Heresy, or I'm not really understanding the first part of my serial numbers. I have 113W606 & 113W608, which would be the 606th & 608th units made in 1981, but the 113 prefix throws me off a little. Were there really 113 runs of 1000 Heresy at that point? :scratch2: I guess there could have been, but that sounds kinda high to me.

Have you gone to the Klipsch Factory Forum??? Several of the Klipsch Managers are Moderators on their site.

DATES DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE

1998- 2000 YY WW #### 00281234

1. YY = year (e.g. 00 = 2000)
2. WW = week of the year (e.g. 28 = 2nd week in June)
3. This coding was is used on Chorus, Forte & Academy

98286 & 98287 = 1998, 28th week, number 6th and 7th speakers made that week. I know the Forte IIs were supposedly stopped in 1996, but that may not be the actual case.

The W/O number I am clueless about, unless it is perhaps a Work Order. Perhaps a special run to fill a special order? Klipsch did that on occasion (runs of speakers that hadn't been made for awhile).

Here's the S/N label from a pair of Forte IIs on Craigslist. Very different.

forteiisn.jpg

And here's the code:
DATES DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE

1990-1997 DOYY2Y1#### 135791234

1. DOY = day of the year (e.g. 135 = 14 May)
2. Y2Y1 = 2nd digit of year, 1st digit of year (e.g. 79 =1997)
3. This coding was is used on Chorus, Forte & Academy

233rd day of 1993, no. 7957 and 7958.

Nick, your label looks to comes from the period after the Klipsch site says Forte IIs ceased production.

Puzzled by Forte II

I've read through these SN notes and some on other sites and I'm not finding the format of my Forte II serial number which is 7049.

The label has a part number and serial number and appears thusly:

PN: 09000531111
SN: 7049

I was thinking the 90th day of the year 2000 but the Forte II stopped production in 1996. Any thoughts?:scratch2:

Since it is rare, here is a link to some pics borrowed from a recently unsold bay auction (Dec 2015) posted in a blog which can be posted in the open forums. What is rare? KBPNL, persian nut lacquer finish.

Man, those should be included in one of those "what's the ugliest speaker?" threads.

There were 113 runs total Heresy lifetime but they weren't all for 1000 units; some could be 4 units; some could be 500, etc. depending on orders/demand.

here's what i would like to know recone kit from klipsch # 451520-2. as my 77s have on the cone 451520-1 and i have read that there are different voice coil sizes. are these 2 code numbers the same parts ?
Thanks Don

Hey gang. Just wondering if I’m correct in figuring these were made in 1980 and are raw birch. Anything else of interest we know about these? Thanks everyone.

Just got a pair of all black Heresy's. NO STICKERS inside or out. Code numbers stamped into top plate is 127W030 and 127W031. The black paint is chipping off in places. K22R woofers; Squakers K55Y; Tweeters K77m rectangular. I've contacted Klipsch and they are having a hard time with original paint/stain/finish on these, and they haven't got back to me with dates yet. They did say these might be Heresy Pro's which would account for the Black paint and the corner re-inforcements (See pics).
Anyone familiar with these. So far I've had them running 24 hours on my X-101-D at less than 2 on volume just to get used to running again. Orders of magnitudes better than my OLA's.

Front & Top of 127W030. Note corner reinforcements on top corners.

Stamped # 127W030 Teminal board looks factory for these, which would re-inforce thoughts that these are PRO's?

Inside or 127W030

Top of 127W031 Lower Left Corner of pic you can see end of corner re-inforcement.

I think I'm gonna strip them and just clear coat the Birch plywood.

So this is a Heresy - Wood Oiled Common...but not having much luck deciphering the Serial #, should I assume its the 1948-1961 period?

Just picked up, (well the seller did) as I currently am having back issues..(he even followed me home and unloaded too.) Cornwall ll's with original bill of sale, a bit dusty but all drivers working properly. Can I tell from the info which xover is used?
