Pioneer SX 550 replacement transistors

I have looked through the forum for many hours looking for a replacement for both a 2SC1211 and a 2SA697 and have found many different options. I have even loaded up the list that was placed for many different models.

Is there a current sub for these transistors? The are drivers in the audio amp.

Q5, Q6 2SC1211 NPN 500mW 65V 60V 4V 500mA 75MHz 35 Min TO-92 BCE

Q7, Q8 2SA697 PNP 500mW 65V 60V 4V 700mA 75MHz 50 Min TO-92 BCE

Suggestions please

Thanks

Thank you for the information. If i may ask i see a number of spreadsheets and or list with transistor cross. Is there a place for these list if they exist? I am a older gentleman atempting to find my way around as this is the first forum i have ever joined.

I am also older. Whether I am a gentleman is not for me to decide, but I understand the concept.

I have not found spreadsheets, but there are databases on the net which may or not be accessible in their raw file form, yet their results are available. One place I have found as generally good reference is http://www.alltransistors.com/

The lists and cross references are fairly comprehensive, although devices need to be chosen by performance specifications for suitability to the application. I have a couple of 550s, and those two seem to be reasonable for that driver circuit.

Watthours are good, but the cases are tiny to-92's (like the originals) and they tended to run hot at times.
A to-92L case is larger and can shed more heat, while a to-126 case can shed a full watt UNheatsinked, up to 20 watts with a heat sink.

Q7, Q8 2SA697 PNP 500mW 65V 60V 4V 700mA 75MHz 50 Min TO-92 BCE
Q5, Q6 2SC1211 NPN 500mW 65V 60V 4V 500mA 75MHz 35 Min TO-92 BCE

512-KSA1013YBU to-92L ecb 160v 1a .9w 50mhz 160-320hfe $0.34 (R=60-120, O=100/200, Y=160/320)
512-KSC2383YTA to-92L ecb 160v 1a .9w 50mhz 160-320hfe $0.17

or

512-KSA1220AYS to-126 ecb 120/a160 1.2a 1.2w/20w 175mhz 35-320hfe $0.39 (R=60-120, O=100/200, Y=160/320)
512-KSC2690AYS to-126 ecb 120/a160 1.2a 1.2w/20w 175mhz 35-320hfe $0.40

The positions are neutralized by 100pf collector to base caps, thus speed (175 MHz vs. 50 MHz and original 75 MHz) will not be an issue.

list of lists:

sx-550 in that list of lists:
http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=491657
which includes transistors.

Thanks to dnpainting in january of 2013, these (a1220,c2690) were his choices, of which I agree.

as for the outputs, a more robust choice would be:
512-tip41c npn to-220 bce 80v 6a 65w 3mhz 10-50hfe $0.69
512-tip42c pnp to-220 bce 80v 6a 65w 3mhz 10-50hfe $0.69
instead of
512-KSB596Y pnp to-220 bce 80v 4a 30w 3mhz 15-240hfe $0.62
512-KSD526Ytu npn to-220 bce 80v 4a 30w 3mhz 15-240hfe $0.71

Pioneer SX 550 Brought back to life

WIth the help of serveral members and the list of replacement parts i have taken a little pioneer SX 550 bought for 5 dollars at a yard sale and brought it back to life. The front panel glass was broken, the panel itself was covered in tabbaco smoke turned brown. Left channel was distorted etc. It now plays great and looks "almost new" . Thanks for the help.

Hey tfisher90
Welcome to the forum. Glad you got that SX-550 going. The people on here are great, ain't they? I would sure like to see some before and after pics if you have any.

Take care
