Interesting thread. As an average guitarist for 40 years, I have loved a variety of players across multiple genres. Some masters to my mind not referenced that I noticed. For jazz, Martin Taylor, Django Rheinhardt, George Benson, Kenny Burell, Hank Garland, Jimmy Bruno, Joe Beck, Julian Lage, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour. Fingerstyle, Tommy Emmanuel , Laurence Juber, Pat Donohue, Charlie Byrd, Gene Bertoncini Leo Kottke. Bluegrass, Bryan Sutton, Tony Rice, Steve Grossman, Dan Tymninski. Country, Albert Lee, Arlen Roth, Chet Atkins, Brent Mason. Blues, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Keb Mo. Hawaiian, Keola Beamer, Ledward Kaapana, Cyril Pahinui.
I listen to all these guys...all masters of their styles and often others.
