Weekly Estate and Garage sale finds (pics)

Nothing to write home about, but yesterday I went into a GW for the first time in about 3 years, just because I was out of town, and walked over to the electronics and claimed this little beauty. Not the holy grail, but for $19.99 and 100 WPC, I had to take it home. A little deoxit and faderlube and its ready to go.

A couple of weeks ago a buddy of mine grabbed a Shure SME Series V Magnesium Arm that had never been opened!!!! He had to cut the seal to look inside.

Went to an estate sale this morning that advertised lots of stereo gear/speakers but everything was beyond overpriced. Amid the chaos, I spotted this sitting on the fireplace mantel.

I’ve never seen one before but I figure it was something sitting at a stereo shop for prospective buys.

The KLH 6’s that I was looking at last week now looked like this today . For 200.00’with a busted tweeter . ( I know this because I made them test them )
And one of the worst records I’ve ever heard .

Picked up these as advertised Custom Built speakers at an Estate sale first thing Friday. Sound fantastic. Wonderful condition. Added the Fostex tweeters up top to help the upper extension for the full range drivers.

What's in them? Beautiful woodwork.

$10 Henry Kloss Ensembles. Tried them out with a powered sub and they sound nice, well worth $10. Pictured next to Minimus 7 for size comparison.

It's almost embarrassing to say, but Realistic Allied 40-1230. Because of that I was really skeptical and had figured I was buying these for the cabinets and good looking baffle design that I could put something more worthy in, but when I hooked them up to listen I was absolutely blown away. As were a couple audiophile buddies of mine I immediately had come over for a listen. I didn't tell one of them what they were until after he was telling me they sounded as good as some of the finest he's ever heard including some $50,000 systems. When I told him he went silent and pretty much looked like .
I have looked through most of the radioshack catalogs on-line and haven't been able to find this driver. Some that appear similar.

I think you had the right idea @Drugolf when you purchased those, nice cabinets and hope for some nice driver's inside. They are not old Altecs, but if they sound as good as you described then you win! Here is what you were looking for I believe.

Those speakers do indeed look jaw dropping, and their size and shape are substantial. If it's possible, I'd love to see a pic of the driver configuration. Does the grille come off from the front?

Those are beautiful. How did you tie in the tweeter?
